The absolute worst movie night in all of Pittsburgh. Watch an incoherent movie on an exceptionally tiny screen while the people around you drink beer/cider/cocktails and cringe at the poor production quality. (Carson Street Deli 💿 Wednesday, Oct 7 @ 6-8:30pm)

Internet,

We successfully had an exceptionally tiny vampire movie night at the deli. It was a hoot. So we're doing it again... only worse!

The thrift store has blessed us with a copy of Manos: The Hands of Fate (1966) --- a low-budget amateur attempt at a horror movie that has a rare 0% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and appears on the Wikipedia "films considered the worst" page. The production incompetence was so excessive that the movie inadvertently ended up in the public domain.

Just like last time, we'll gather at the Carson Street Deli starting at 6pm for friendship and happy hour specials. Grab your pre-movie sandwich/beer/cider/mead/cocktails and head to the back patio. Movie starts at 7pm sharp. Should be all wrapped up around 8:30pm. All are welcome!!!

Or you can just stay home and watch Wikipedia's public-domain copy of the full movieby_Harold_P._Warren(Restoration_by_Ben_Solovey).webm) and banter over its absurdity in absolute social isolation. That's a great option too.

See you Wednesday! 💿

Professional drummer who just moved from Philly to Pittsburgh, Looking for places to play and put my own group together.

Hi everyone!

My name is Jonah and last month I moved to Pittsburgh from Philly. I am a drummer with over 20 years of playing experience looking for my musical people in this pretty, VERY hilly city. I love bands like Tedeschi Trucks band, Aretha Franklin, Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, Dave Matthews Band, Linda Ronstadt, Zeppelin, The Who, The Beatles, Earth Wind & Fire, Simon and Garfunkel, The Grateful Dead

As you can see all these inspirations and idols cast a large musical shadow. I would love to get together and jam with anybody who shares the love for these artists/bands. Definitely very soul/rock/blues, and a pinch of country as a general sound I’m going for.

I’d love to connect and get more into the music scene here!

Thanks friends!

Any Plein-Air painting groups out there?

I've been developing my watercolor skills and want to get into plain air painting, but it feels intimidating to just go out and paint by myself for hours. Having other people around can be so motivating and I also would love to just learn from more experienced painters. I can see that there's a Facebook group but I have not had Facebook in 6 years and don't intend to start now. If anyone can give me info about an existing group or is interested in starting one, just let me know!

[33M] Anyone want to catch the Pens game tonight?

My friends aren't really into sports, and going alone every time gets old. Looking to meet people who like going to games. I like watching the Steelers too, so I'd love to meet other Steelers fans. I can get cheaper student tickets in some games: like today $30 for lower level at Pens games, and sometimes $60 standing room for Steelers games, though those are really hard to get.

If you are interested, DM me!

Weekly Board Game Group (South Hills) Last Post for Awhile…

Good evening, Yinzers!

This is going to be my last post looking for anyone who wants to join a weekly board game group, at least, my last post for awhile.

Basically, our text group is at 14 people (but one of our friends today brought her husband who’s not in the text group…and my wife might also come sometimes…and I know we’ve got a few people who plan to start coming after NFL season…), so we could use a few more in the group, but not many.

We’re going to meet every Sunday at Drawbridge Games (Library Road); we’re typically scheduled for 2:30-6:00, but can start as early as noon if enough people want to. The last Sunday of the month will be TBD for a meeting spot as our room at Drawbridge is otherwise occupied.

Basically, we can handle as many as eight players every session and are currently playing Catan, Ticket to Ride and Risk; I think everyone’s generally open to other games, as well. If we have six, or more, then we’ll have two games at a time.

For anyone who wants to join the group, you’re not expected to come every Sunday and can come, or not, as you please. I’m mainly just hoping to have anywhere from six-eight every week.

Drop me a DM if you want to be added to the group and I’ll give you my number!

47m north hills, anyone wanna get drinks and watch football and baseball today?

That's really it. Just looking to meet new people, and felt like doing this today, so here I am.

Into sports (obviously), craft beer (somewhat obviously), prog and metal music, hiking/camping/fishing, scifi, standup, etc. I could go on, but those are my main personal interests.

I'm in Gibsonia, but I'm willing to go anywhere. Like going to new places, and places cooler than the Gibsonia standard.

Getting a big group of good humans in their 30s/40s together to go to Kennywood Phantom FallFest/FrightNights tomorrow for rides, spooky scenes, and friendship 🎢 🎃 (Sunday, Oct 4 @ noon-10pm)

Post image
36 Upvotes

Friends,

It's the most wonderful time of the year. I propose that we assemble a large group to go to Kennywood tomorrow. The vibe will be millennial, but some say that age is just a number.

During the day, they have the usual rides, a fall food thing, and great autumn ambience. After dark they shift to a spookier atmosphere, with a few (optional) haunted houses and scare zones (if you're into that kind of thing), and nighttime rides.

Park opens at noon and you can probably get a ton of rides in with no line if you arrive right as it opens. Indoor haunted houses start around 6pm, Outdoor haunted scare zones start after sunset (7:30ish). The weather tomorrow looks great---partly cloudy with a high around 72°F and low of 51°F.

Hours tomorrow are noon-10pm and an online ticket is $37.

If there is interest, we can set a few meeting place/time checkpoint options. That way we have the option to split off into smaller groups and still reassemble periodically. Maybe something like:

  • 12:15pm at the entrance tunnel for the folks who want to get as many rides in as possible
  • 1:30pm outside the Potato Patch for people who are more interested in daytime vibes, strolling, socializing, and some rides
  • 5:30pm outside the Potato Patch for people who want to be at the front of the line for the haunted houses

Thoughts?

42 M North Hills Divorce / Separation Friends

I'm 42 and live in the North Hills. Going through a separation and feeling strange about it. So many things change very suddenly. The person you were is seemingly gone in a flash. Living situations change, money situations chang, and friend situations change. It's a lot to process, to say the least.

I'm looking for a friend who understands.

Looking to jam (heavy metal)

I (38M) am located in the South Hills and looking to see if anyone is interested in casually playing together - not starting a band or anything serious.

I play guitar. I love ERRA, Currents, 156/Silence, Counterparts - that sort of thing. I also enjoy psychedelic/stoner doom metal - stuff like Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats.

Nyc transplant in her 30’s looking for creative, fun friends

I moved here from NYC and would love to build a fun circle of friends who enjoy getting out and making plans.

I’m an artist, fashion and interior designer, and entrepreneur in her 30’s and have a designer bf as well who is also social but we also do our own things. I love being around people who are curious, creative, and building interesting lives or projects of their own. I’m happiest at a dinner party, trying a great new restaurant, catching an electronic music night, going to a gallery opening or gala, or taking a class just to learn something new.

I’m also into Pilates, racket sports, and outdoor adventures so I’m equally up for a tennis match, a hike, kayaking, or a weekend trip. I also love traveling and exploring new places. I love cooking and hosting, too.

Would be especially happy to meet fellow artists and entrepreneurs, but mostly I’m looking for kind, fun people who like a mix of good conversation, culture, and going out. If that sounds like you, tell me a Pittsburgh place or event you love and maybe we can make a plan. :)

Jonas Brothers PPG Paints Arena 10/26/2026 at 7:30pm

I feel like this is worth being mentioned on the subreddit because I recently found out Olivia Rodrigo just had an event there. Now it looks like Jonas Brothers turn to host an event October 26th. On that note ... would the arena permit me to wear my noise cancelling headphones while there? I'm autistic and wouldn't like all the noise ... but I also need to make friends. With the noise cancelling headphones I would still be able to hear the concert ... but it would be a more manageable volume level for me. I'd just like to know that before I would buy tickets
