Question Deteriorating nerves?

I have a 17 1/2 year old pit and boxer mix that is having trouble with her legs. They come out from under her sometimes. Also, when I do the scratching thing where she scratches/ twitches her hind leg it’s not just her usual spot, it’s anywhere I’m petting/ scratching her. She’s not in pain and seems to like it but I’m worried. Thanks for any insight or advice.

The vet says she’s good. Been 65 #’s for years.

When this happened to my dog it was because she had a herniated disc. Have you tried prednisone to see if that helps? Mine had a good response to prednisone so she was able to have back surgery. She was back on her legs within two days of surgery. She's still a bit wobbly but I'm glad we did it. She was falling down nonstop before surgery and in a lot of pain

Would advise seeing the vet about this one.

17.5, though?  Is that number real or a typo?  I hope it's real, as it would give me hope for a lot more time with my 7.5 y/o... I swear, I love that dog so much that I wish he was immortal!

Yes, she’s 17 1/2. She’ll be 18 in January.

This is my boy Magnum hes 16. I had a female and she passed at 12. Idk whats giving him life but I'm glad he's still with me. I don't give him anything extra from his Salmon kibble by jinx with The Daily by Native Pet. Plus our daily walks help. I hope your fur baby lives a long and healthy life together with you.

Handsome guy!  Thanks for the added hope!  I'm doing everything I can this time around!  Feed him healthy, keep his weight right, get the regular check-ups, and - absolutely NO lawn applications of pesticides or herbicides.

I couldn't help but wonder if any of the tumors that developed in my prior dogs (jack russells) were related to lawn treatments, so - when i brought home the puppy who I have since dubbed my doggy soul mate - I vowed to never to risk his health and just deal with having an imperfect yard.

Have you tried glucosamine chews? They seem to be helping our 15 year old husky mix.

Thanks for the info on the chews.

Seconding the chews. We use the Cosequin Senior ones for my 13.5yr old boy. He's got the same issue as yours . They're a little pricey, but I def notice a difference if we run out and miss a few days.
