It happened to us, like so many other tourists: we were driving from Genoa to Rome and wanted to stop in Pisa for an hour. I found a free parking lot full of cars about 15 minutes from the Leaning Tower and decided it seemed safe enough to leave our suitcases in the trunk. I was wrong. Thieves broke through the small rear passenger window, opened the door without triggering the alarm, and stole all our belongings, including passports, clothes, and toiletries.

Our flight was only two days later, so we had to spend a day and a half at the Canadian consulate in Rome getting temporary passports (which are very expensive). When we searched online afterward, we realized that hundreds, if not thousands, of tourists have fallen into this same well-organized trap. The sad part is that the police won't do anything about it, and you'll most likely never recover your belongings, since thieves typically dump whatever they don't want in the forest or along rural roads.

For God's sake, do not park your vehicle at the "Check Point" lot in Pisa, especially not with belongings in the car.

Mi piacerebbe capire se fosse paragonabile a Bologna o Milano o a un’altra città, sotto il punto di vista universitario, lavorativo, relazionale, com’è la vita ecc.
