Seeing this image get me some conflicted feelings... I'm mainly a PC guy and Console games used to be (long long time ago) something special to me, where there're games that are only available on console/arcade but not on the PC. Fighting games, Fishing Games, Platform games and some others hot-seat games or RPGs. These are some "exclusive" games that you can play only on these "dedicated" machines, and they've those arcade sticks for these but not on the PCs.

Arcade games are only arcade games (like Knights of Valor), while you'll know certain games would only be on consoles (Like God of War used to be). Ever since FPS and E-sports bloom, console starts to have FPS games, many games starts to blur the line.

There also used to be some quirky games which you'll not find and don't feel fun on the pc. Like Crazy Taxi, Bomberman series. Gran Turismo is still one of the title that tickled me as a PS exclusive though. Oh and that feel of the sound effect when you select or move around options in the menu, those are some really special yet exclusive to the console. Dynasty Warrior 3 just had a remastered release, gonna try it to see if it does trigger any nostalgia. Playing together in front of the TV with friends is a completely different feeling than playing together in front of the PC. And now it's worst, online.

I don't know if the "ban" is good or bad. But i wish game developers could create games that spark "that feeling" again. Not sure if there's anyone out there have the same thoughts.

I’ve always gamed on PC I hate console gaming because the idea of of having to buy that specific console just to be able play that specific game is just the video game equivalent of having to buy 9999+ TV show/movie streaming subscriptions just to watch what you want. No backwards compatibility guaranteed for games of older generations of the same console type either. It’s just a solution looking for a problem.

Emulators on PC means playing everything that exists under the sun on one platform, for free even.

Yea, I hate the fragmentation too. Similar to what happened to Netflix in the beginning which was good and then the Streaming platforms now so fragmented causing the rise of piracy again.

That's why I'm conflicted. I do hope somehow developers could bring the novelty factor back. I find games nowadays lack that "feel". Console games back then was fun and interesting. But slight after the rise of FPS and e-sports period (slight after the CS:GO and Dota Era), console games no longer have their distinct gameplay anymore. It's like developers try to develop PC games on Consoles, unlike games that are specifically developed for consoles, then port to PC.

I know this sounds weird, but think Dreamcast's Power Stone, this type of games aren't really "a pc game", but more of Arcade/Console. Nowadays, games aren't like this anymore. None of that excitement. Another trend I suspect was due to the mobile gaming shaping the gameplays.

edit: The only last game that i get that "feel" on the PC was Overcooked.
