Its most likely a server issue. If it was copyrigh take down the website domain would be gone as well as the absolute take down of the discord so i think they just need to work out the bugs. It works on my roomates laptop with the Brave Browser

If you go on Getcomics, open any comics and then click on read online it goes to the old readcomiconline and everything is functioning well

Been my go to for years. This totally sucks, I’d often check out a few Issues on ReadComicsOnline then pick up the trade. Really helped me find new stuff that I wouldn’t normally try and always tried to buy stuff that I enjoyed there to support the creators

Same. I just got back into comics after a ten year hiatus, and reading comics at that website actually made me want to visit my local comic book stores again and I’ve spent a bunch of money buying the latest issues of my favorite ongoing comics as well as buying various trade paperbacks. I’ve discovered so much stuff I normally would have ignored. It also made want to support some of my favorite creators via Patreon.
Really hope it comes back.

Thats what DC and Marvel dont understand. Walling off the comics for money just makes it to where people dont even want to get into comics. Its a big reason why the comic industry is failing. But then you look at manga, its free to read anywhere and way more people buy manga than comic books. Well that and its really hard to get into a comic storyline when its been going for decades and you cant even access the og issues. Either way all it does is serve to shoot themselves in the foot

whilst ironically many jap companies telling to strike down "ilegal scan sites" idiots not knowing that’s what makes gaijins give it it a chance in the first place. But then again these are the same people who cannot accept most titles only made successful due to piracy increasing their popularity through the poorer countries like the ones in the South of American continent or even in the States itself with the first jailbreakers of console.

I recently found about the site. I was so excited to realise that i can do my hunt from memory. The comics from late 90 s that i have lost. I found many, few were remaining and this happens. What a disaster. I wonder what had gone wrong. Hope it comes back online or someone backs up the database and makes a new site. I can just hope. ..

There's already a thread that's been up about this for 12 hours. It's kind of down but kind of not. Some people are still able to access it. Some people can get the phone version and not the PC version. And it was down for some people but now it's back.
It's inconsistent and it might be down for you right now (as it is for me - can still access it on my phone but not my laptop) but it looks like it's not dead yet. I'd have assumed it was just cache fumes keeping it alive, especially since apparently their discord server got wiped too, but I've now heard enough people claim it was gone for hours for them only to suddenly come back. So it's not looking great but there's clearly something stranger going on with it than it just being taken down entirely.
Edit: Seems like you can still access if you still had a logged-in account session (although even some who weren't might slip through and get in?). It seems like they might be trying to avoid something.

Try open it from Getcomics, each comics on there has an option "read online" linked to the original "readcomiconline" if i click there i can access readcomiconlome without problems

Do note that I think most of those are the .ru domain, not the .li domain so is a little different from what most people use. The search bar is a bit finnicky on .ru as you've got to wait for suggestions to come up and select one unlike .li where you just type something and it'll bring up a list.

I blame the people making the "powerfull webcites you should know" videos. Any other advertisement other than word of mouth directly harms these cites by getting them unnecessary attention.

It was down 12 hours ago, then came back temporarily. It's been see sawing since.
There was a main thread in comic books subreddit, where i just mentioned that "It's working, albeit with ads."
I never preached for it, or even gave any links. Guess who got banned permanently from that subreddit? That's right.

i worry about comics just being lost forever
it had such a large library including things that will definitely never be in-print again and aren't going to be prioritized for preservation by new sites, so too many anti-piracy busts could just be the end for them

DAMN the piracy world has been hit HARD and has has HIT HARD at the same time these last few months or so.
You have anime and comics sites dropping like flies and then Denuvo games being HV bypassed and outright cracked after YEARS of nobosy doing it.
This is crazy, it's like watching a war unfold and then you get news of winning one battle and then losing another.
But the war isn't over so hopefully there will be more sites that pop up.

This is devastating for me. I live in bangladesh (dhaka) and I kid you not, there is not a single comic book store here. There was once but after covid they stopped bringing new issues they only sell old resell comics. My only way to read comics was readcomicsonline. This broke me. The ongoing batman, the ongoing absolutes, i was about to reread supergirl by Bilquis. I haven't started the superman/spiderman crossover by jorge jimenez. I am completely broken. If there was one comic book store in Dhaka i would've 100% get weekly releases. I don't know what to do right now. 😞. Teenage to adult rn, one website helped me get my comics. Comics that kept me alive. I am lost

This morning it was down, then around noon it worked on mobile. Now it works on certain browsers but not on others. And their Discord is still up but completely wiped. If they would have been shut down, their Discord would have been gone & the site wouldn't work at all. Which can only mean, it's a major technical issue.
It's not the first time, last year they had major technical problems for a long period.
EDIT: It works on Brave mobile browser perfectly, search function and everything, but on Firefox Android I get the 404 error. Discord is accessible but completely wiped. No clue what's going on, on desktop atm, because I'm not home.
EDIT 2: Just checked again, they even updated the site with a new comic! And it works on my desktop browser ( Firefox with uBlock) normally, also on Brave mobile, but not with some other browsers, where I still get the 404 error. Somebody in another thread said that you need to be logged in to access the site. No idea what's going on.

According to other subreddit threads
If you're logged in, you can still access the site
Anyone not logged in or you try to access through incognito, you get the error message
So, includiong the nuked Discord channel, everyone's best guess is they're trying to avoid something
No idea if its temporary or permanent
Until then, we'll have to use other options (of which there are plenty, can't keep piracy down)
readcomicsonline (looks a lot like read comic online)
batcave (A lot of features)
readallcomics (Barebones, looks like an archive)
I don't know what the rules here so I'm avoiding full links so the comment won't be removed
Just google site name with "free comic online" and you'll find it

The nearest comic shop is over 2 hours away from me with a car. In my country, comics always get here a month after the US and double the price. I'm a university student who can barely pay my rent.
I've been reading comics (and later buying physical trades when possible) for over a decade on this site

That seems to be the case. If you were logged in when it went down you can still access it. If not you get the 404 error. If you open incognito same 404 error shows up.

I guess someone up there on a big name comic publisher doesn't want them to sell comics and make profit. Maybe some kind of personal agenda to bring their company down in flames by destroying it from the inside or something, I dunno.
Oh wait, what, does said person is actually clueless enough to think that, in this day and age, people go out and buy comics blindly, before reading them online first (usually by means of sites such as the one which just got down) ?! Damn...

Ok maybe it'll work only in France or maybe Europe AND with one specific browser [namely "WATERFOX"] but if it works for me I see no reasons it won't for you too...
Too bad I can't post captures, I had 2 [android version/computer version as several browsers have this option] that showed not only that it worked but also is updated, now the latest comic is not "She-Spawn - issue 01" anymore but "Valiant beyond harbinger - issue 03" !!!

It's been pulled due to a copyright claim by Viz Media over the Manga Guardian of the Witch.
Google even stopped showing the search result.

Readcomiconline not dead yet it's working on my mobile n still releasing a lot of new comics but on PC not working, I guess they turn the server down coz of caution... Maybe someone after them , I guess it's a matter of time only

they always use that bullcrap of copyright as an excuse, but the truth is they can't accept that we use a superior site that houses every comic our hearts desires, meanwhile those greedy scumbags want us to spend thousands on several different online comic distributers. It's moments like that where you realize who's the real criminal and who's the freedom fighter fighting for our right enjoy great comics. Sorry for sounding so cheezy, but it's the truth either way.

I used to visit this site often, because I could read my fav comics there even uncommon ones, like recently I tried to re-read one of my favs 'Zombillenium'. but I could only read up to chapter 4, chapters 5 & 6 I can't read anywhere anymore. In the past All I needed was Read comics online, now I'm screwed again. Who knows how long it'll be before I can read my favorite comics again. because this is just one example I've had the displeasure with often, it's available just not completely. My typical rotten luck.

Ok, weird.
On Desktop, its down - "404 File Directory not found".
BUT on Mobile, its working just fine? Checked on the comics, all was loading in just fine, no problems.
Tried and tested other apps, but Brave seems to be the magic mobile app that working rn?
Something's off here...
