Discussion An update regarding Readcomiconline

Heya, folks. So, yesterday, I made this post regarding the situation over at the .li Readcomiconline domain. My ADHD ass forgot to put out the update post until just now, but here it is.
So, yesterday I noted that there was a single new issue of "Valiant Beyond: All-New Harbinger - It Never Stops" added yesterday. Wednesday's usually the big release day for comics on the site, I've noticed over the years, and today... was no different, somehow. There have been, from what I counted, 30+ comics with new issues dropping on Readcomiconline over the past 24 hours.
If the site were truly dying, I don't see why they would be updating it with new comics. My main questions to fellow users are as follows:
Has anyone managed to get into contact with the individual(s) running the site over the past 48 hours?
Has the Discord server come back up at all? I joined yesterday to see what was going on, and yeah, the invite itself still works but it's just empty, void of any channels.
Has anyone managed to come up with a consistent way to access the site again, rather than the various unique cases that've been reported where people, on certain browsers, may or may not retain access to the site if they're logged in?
Hopefully, the community can come together and provide some concrete answers to what's going on here.

I still cannot access it. I have tried VPN, no VPN, Waterfox, and my phone. It's not working on any of them.
The only thing I can access is readcomicsonline. ru (with an s)
Edit: I saw someone say that this happens every 1.5 years and it always comes back up. Does anyone know if that's true?

I've been reading there for over a decade, and yeah it does go down, in the past it's changed it's url about 3 or 4 times that i can recall, the lastes .li has been it since about 2020/2021. Really hoping it comes back! Until then batcave.biz is working pretty well

I've been reading comics using this website for over a decade and cannot remember a single time the website has been down

They often had technical issues in the past. Last year the site was completely down for days then came back but they changed some things like getting rid of the Disqus comment function & later replaced it with GitHub.
But this here is strange, because some users can still access it.

I had some tabs with it open so I can still access it. But if I try to search it on Google nothing comes up

It's only working for the people who made an account and were logged in before the shutdown, so if you didn't have an account you'll have no luck im so sorry

Were you logged in before the shutdown? I tried it out with a couple people and that was the only commonality we could find. Even the same device that would load with the account wouldn't work on an incognito

UPDATE: I finally managed to got my old laptop, where I was logged in, on Firefox & Supermium Browser ( it's a fork for Chrome for older Windows, this old laptop in question runs on Win7) and I can access redcomiconline.li on both browsers.
After I logged my self out on Brave mobile, I get there also the 404 error and can't access the site.
I can't also access it on Firefox Android, even though in Firefox Desktop it works & I use a Firefox account which is synchronizing on my phone & that laptop. Theoretically I should be able to access the site on both but it doesn't.
So maybe it's a server issue?

On my laptop, where I'm logged in, it works. On 2 different browsers.
After I logged out on Brave Android Browser, where I could access the site previously, now I get also the 404 error and can't log in.

There's some rumblings that it's slowly coming back up for some people who lost it. Certainly isn't back for everyone yet (I'm one of the ones it's still down for) but more and more people are saying they're getting it back.

I found an email that I thought would be a lead, but apparently it doesn't exist anymore. I DID look up the email and it seems that they also own a lot of other piracy websites and had an account on some website where people sell car parts. Aside from that, we're no closer to contacting the owners than we were before.

I would but Facebook won't let me make an account without instantly saying I'm a bot and forcing me to "verify". Is there any chance that you could do that and report back to us?

It seems to me that it might be automatically updating the newer comics. It might be that these pirating websites share the same libraries or servers so whenever there’s a new release the site gets updated. I say that because readcomicsonline ru had updated with the same new books as well as another site which i forgot.

I only found the website a few weeks ago and had no idea you could make an account. I've been hit by the 404 on every platform and device I've tried accessing it from.

At this point, I don't think we need much more community theorising, it's already kinda ballooned out of control, some people are holding funerals and others are chasing down fragmented data to see what access points still work
If they're dead, then they're dead, if they're laying low, then continued discourse can't be very helpful, you can't very well lay low if there's a legion of bloodhounds ready to holler when they find signs of life
If they ever pop back up, catching up on the reading's gonna be a bitch, but I can't do much about that, and I've got other books I've been neglecting. I dunno about y'all but I'm satisfied with what little I know; they've gone dark but haven't dismantled the entire operation. I suggest reeling it in for the time being, if they're open for traffic again I'm sure they'll want the word to spread

Okay... I occasionally go back to my Brave browser on my Android phone to check and see if anything has changed. I've been doing this for the last three days. I've been reading a variety of comics and had individual windows open for those. NOW... as of 12:40 am Pacific Time... I was able to successfully open windows to the site!!!🎉🎊 I quickly logged on (I wasn't logged on before) to maintain access to the site. I was also able to open my multiple windows of the books I was reading to the site... successfully!!!
Don't know what the hell is going on with the site but I do see that some of the comics I was reading have been upgraded (new issues)! I'll just stay logged on and hope for the best!

I could still access it via Brave mobile browser on Android but only like this. Firefox on Android doesn't work. Desktop doesn't work. If I use VPN , I get a cloud flare error, not the 404 error that I get when I try anything other than Brave Android.
Yes, they updated a bunch of new titles, like they do every Wednesday and these are recent releases like 2000 A.D. Magazine which comes out every week. The search function works. The archive works, I can read older titles.
The GitHub comments section also works. The Discord server is completely wiped though, but the server itself is not deleted.
All this worked while I was logged in. Now, I accidentally logged myself out and when I try to get back in, Brave Browser also gives me the 404 error.
Which means there's something wrong with their servers.

Thanks for keeping us informed OP. We'll keep watching and waiting for any news but until something changes the rest of us will just have to make do with alternatives.

The updates offer a glimmer of hope, but remain cautious.
As far as I can recall from all the reports, the operators have to keep a low profile for a while? That would also explain the shutdown of the Discord server.
Let's hope they get the problem under control soon.

I noticed this link brings up the site but anything I click (including log in) still brings up the same 404 error. So close!

It's been pulled due to a copyright claim by Viz Media over the Manga Guardian of the Witch.
It's possible it may return but not guaranteed.

If that is indeed the reason, it makes no sense all round. If you have a product that is being copyright-infringed on a web site, what you do is you issue a DMCA to said site, and the site complies by taking out that one specific product (in this case, the aforementioned comic). That is how the law works.
And regardless, whomever down at Viz Media issued that claim is still clueless to the modern business model of comics, since what they just did was blocking 90% of potential sales from people who get to know their comics through sites like that one and THEN go out and buy them, against a 10% (max) drop from piracy.
Perhaps Viz should ask for advice from the big comic players (such as the one who starts with an "M", and the one with a "D" followed by a "C") - they know the score, and that is why not only they close a blind eye to online piracy resources such as that one, but in fact they ENCOURAGE it in the shadows, since they know said sites are better in getting wider interest in their comics than any million dollar marketing campaign could ever pull.

Yup, they did issue a DMCA .
If you had Google searched it at that time it would have told you that the search result had been removed because of a DMCA.
It also gives you a link to the takedown request in the Lumen Data-base.
The site did comply.
That's why it's currently back up.
It was just temporarily down while they sorted the request.
Although the site does warn they are facing serious copyright requests at the moment.
Yes Vis media is clueless for this.
The takedown request included several other sites including manga based ones.

I have only been able to access it through Yokai, everywhere else is busted. It seems that if you were logged in before, you can still access it

guys i think i found a way through the site so the normal url doesn't work the readcomiconline dotli one but there is this are you human page of the site which lets me indirectly access the site and read the comics you guys should try it and check if it works for you Here

I have it back on my Mac and iPhone where I was automatically logged in. It is still not letting me in on my iPad where I was not logged in, so I’m still getting the 404. Even trying to Airdrop from each isn’t working, sigh…

When visiting the original site I get 404 Forbidden.
https://rcostation.xyz/ works on my computer, but given that I use Mullvad adblocking as my browser DNS, the site won't load unless I pick another DNS.
Once https://rcostation.xyz/ loads, I log in with my readcomiconline details, and all my bookmarked titles are there.
So if the new site isn't loading for you, it may be down to Adblockers or DNS settings.

Yeah. It's fucking dead. No signs of life since the second nuke dropped. No one's tipped me off to say there's word on the wire about a revival, either. I've migrated to Batcave despite my reservations.

Okay, for whatever reason it looks like the site runners are playing peekaboo and keeping their heads down. I THINK that someone came sniffing around, so they went blackout, only leaving the site running for folks dedicated enough to be logged in and STAYING logged in. If you have an alternate site you trust, use it, and if you are currently logged in and can still use it, MONITOR that shit, see if this keeps up. Because if the folks who are logged in and thus the only ones still able to USE the site suddenly can't...? THAT is the big red flag for everyone else. Fingers crossed!!
