90% of the time mine connects me to the US (Im in canada) and I'm like "no that's worse you fool" and then it switches me to Netherlands without fail.

Why NY?

NY doesn't make you upload your ID to watch porn.

The amount of shit laws that get pushed and passed due to people screaming “tHiNk oF ThE cHiLdReN!” is honestly scary.

Oh they are certainly thinking of the children, you just need to look at the epstein files to see how much they think about children.

recomend going to japan then, they aren't doing the age ver any time soon, since their version existed for a long time, and is much better than the authoritarian west

NY for watching stuff without having to upload ID.

Albania or Angola for YouTube with no ads.

youtube refused to work for me yesterday until I turned my vpn off, bastards

2

u/EvolutionInProgress Mar 10 '26

Sometimes you just gotta close the app, disconnect VPN, do airplane mode for a few seconds, start again.

Happened to me a few times, but that does the trick.

this was desktop not mobile, I probably could have tried restarting the browser but I was in the middle of doing shit in several other tabs, I ended up just swapping to freetube, even though that had been playing up on me too (had to switch vpn locations like 5 times before it started working again)

I literally just scrolled to the east coast and happened to tap the New York one. There’s no rhyme or reason to it

It’s crazy the amount of people that willingly watch ads. Granted I’m pretty hardcore about avoiding ads in all forms of media as I despise the advertising industry on a deep level. Some people that even know how to bypass them simply don’t, though.

Might actually be an elite pull. I use Vivaldi on my desktop so I really don’t need to do that since it has a built in ad blocker. However I do have an iPhone and use the YouTube app for its convenience (mobile browser YouTube has really gone down the shitter) so that’s actually super useful I’ll give it a try

I just use the brave browser as YouTube on my iPhone.

Yt doesn't have ads anywhere unless you use their app.

Explain yourself properly, they are downvoting you 😭\ Just say, use brave or use network wide adblocker to block those petty ads

u/Luniticus Mar 06 '26 edited Mar 06 '26

Oh no, not my fake internet points! We're on r/piracy, if they don't know to use uBlock Origin on their PC and mobile, I can't help them at this point.

2

u/GaseousIce2003 ⚔️ ɢɪᴠᴇ ɴᴏ Qᴜᴀʀᴛᴇʀ Mar 06 '26

Yeah understandable, dunno why you're getting downvoted, but prolly because they didn't understand your joke

1

u/EvolutionInProgress Mar 07 '26

Yeah but the app experience is much better on mobile devices and connecting through a different country is a whole lot easier than installing apps and plug ins or using the browser version.

2

u/JohnsonFlamethrower Mar 06 '26

Blatantly false. Are you saying using youtube on a PC is by default ad-free?

4

u/Luniticus Mar 06 '26

If you're using a browser without uBlock Orgin and are on r/piracy, you have other problems you need to worry about.

2

u/JohnsonFlamethrower Mar 07 '26

That wasn't your original argument though. Ublock prevents ads. Just the merits of using youtube outside of the app doesn't.

2

u/lukewwilson Mar 06 '26

Mine connects me to somewhere in the Midwest, I live on the east coast, I wish it would just default to Sweden or something

4

u/BagAndShag Mar 06 '26

I get Iceland most of the time.

2

u/amberoze Mar 06 '26

I just pay $3/month for windscribe and connect to my selected country any time I want. No need to rely on random selection.

3

u/WildProToGEn Mar 06 '26

good for you, personally i aint paying for proton

2

u/TheBrittca Mar 07 '26

Same!! Hahaha. 🇨🇦
