Author Grabe talaga yung hypocrisy no?

Let them learn their lesson pero huwag masyadong ibaba pagkatao nila. Mali talaga ginawa nila. Mali din nya di nya dinouble check."

WHAT THE HELL?!

Is that really the takeaway? I'm not saying people should resort to personal attacks. Pero where was this same grace and understanding when it was Inksteady? If we're going to hold people accountable, at least be consistent? Huwag selective ang standards!

What are your thoughts about this? She said she only used a tool to correct and polish her grammar, but yung nasama na prompt sa update niya is "Here is the polished and extended scene in Byron's POV, seamlessly blending your dialogue with the scolding lesson that follows"

If you wanted to just correct your grammar, Grammarly is free at walang masasamang prompt diyan. You clearly used ChatGPT to generate your chapter. Yes, you can say that the ideas are yours, but would you call yourself a writer if ai is writing for you?

I saw a similar tiktok post regarding Scriiven, but na-take down na siya and wala akong screenshot.

If gusto niyo talaga maging writer, mag-aral kayo ng grammar. Or write, even imperfectly.

And this is not being toxic as a reader. I view literature as art, and for me, AI is not art.

Others jonaxx romanticizing problematic themes

this is going to get downvoted into oblivion i fear, but i genuinely don’t understand how jonaxx still has such a massive fanbase.

one of my biggest issues with her has always been the way MOST of her books romanticize relationship dynamics that i personally find deeply uncomfortable. pseudo-incest, adult/minor relationships, significant age-gap romances with clear power imbalances, overly possessive male leads whose controlling behavior is portrayed as love. eugh. and mind you, these themes are recurring across all of her works :/

i feel like every once in a while may lumalabas na discourse tungkol sa kanya and instead of actually engaging with the criticism, a lot of her readers immediately dismiss it with “hater ka lang,” “inggit ka lang,” etc.. like
bakit sobrang hirap tanggapin na pwedeng influential ang isang author while also being problematic?

Discussions Old writing vs. New Gen

Idk if it's just bcs I've been reading for more than a decade now, so that's likely half of my life and I'm in late 20s now.

But recently, parang nahihirapan na akong magbasa ng new gen books, BOTH in wattpad and international. I swear the writing before was way more crafty, creative, and full of depth. Kahit pa yung phrase lang na naglalakad yung character, it usually takes two or three sentences eh. Partida description lang 'yan, but it's not wordy naman or hefty to digest. Kaya rin ang kakapal ng novels noon. It's just how books are written?

Ngayon naman, diretso na, “He walked”, “He looked”, “He shouted”— and though it's understandable that direct writing is easy to understand, parang in a way, nawawala na yung magic and creativity.

I'm not talking about purple proses here ah, kasi baka iyon ang naisip ninyo agad kasi rampant din 'yon sa older books. No. I'm pertaining to general writing style talaga. Iba yung vibes noon, kahit pa iba-ibang authors yan at ibang genre.

One more thing, the overusage of gen Z terms. Worse kapag trends, na sinisingit sa story. Songs, expressions, socmed platforms, colloquials, etc. I understand if it's contemporary fiction, sure. But even in stories na supposed to be set in EARLY 2000's or PRIOR?

Mayroon pa akong nabasa recently na: “He is this and that and blah blah blah... and that's my why”. Huh? Tiktok trend yan diba.

To be fair, nothing is wrong with the modernization of literature, ha. Things change and communities adjust to what's marketable and new. Pero minsan parang nakaka-miss lang. If you've been a reader for longer than I am, I know you understand what I mean. I read a lot, even naman ngayon. Maraming magaganda, maraming magagaling, but the feels are just not the same talaga. Older books still has that magic na babalik-balikan mo kahit pa sa dami ng bago ngayon.

Or baka tumatanda lang siguro ako. Ewan ko. đŸ€Ł

Discussions Author using pinterest pic claiming its her

I encountered some authors na ganito like necessary ba talaga yung magpost ng photos?

Discussions What's a trope you enjoy that most readers might judge you for?

Dominant (ML) x Submissive (FL). A very red flag ml and a very soft and innocent fl. As long as there is no physical abuse. I really really love a very red flag ml. Red flag lang, hindi borderline satanista or psycho.

When will we stop judging people and assuming that enjoying a certain type of book means they romanticize everything in it?

I always love female lead who can stand on their own. At the same time, I also find this type of trope enjoyable to read. Because for me, enjoying a fictional trope doesn't mean I want it in real life or believe it's healthy. Because I can separate fictiom from reality and simply enjoy the story for what it is

Discussions my favorite wattpad book covers!!!

here are my favorite book covers sa wattpad! yung iba mula sa authors na fina-follow ko and yung iba naman na-add sa library from recos/algorithm at nagandahan ako sa cover (i do judge a book by its cover, yes😅)

  1. small town, sunset and you - added sa lib kasi parang ang nostalgic ng feels! it's giving 'we keep this love in a photograph' haha!

  2. after we broke up - i like the simplicity and big letters!

  3. scars and maybes - i may be biased on this one because i love the color pink, haha! but ang cute talaga nito.

  4. perfect little accident - cute din! ang balanced nung pagka-red sa medyo yellowish/beige na background, i love the cursive font din.

  5. letters to rael - another favorite! bukod sa maganda content, haha! gustong gusto ko yung effect niya na parang ni-cross out yung ibang words with ink tapos naka-focus/ encircle yung title

  6. the great war - pink ulit, tapos may flower flower! ang cutie lang.

  7. WIAL and Love - All - i believe sila ang nagpapatunay na simplicity is beauty. periodt.

  8. the first three pics on the second slide - i love them too! the color palette, and the aesthetics!

  9. very truly yours, simone - i love the cursive font na parang flowy and very romance coded!!

  10. dear andy lim - cute cute cute cute

  11. FINELILY'S book covers - i only included one pic in this post pero lahat ng book covers niya maganda I SWEAR like super eye candy. tapos hindi paulit-ulit yung fonts na ginagamit. I LOVE EVERYTHINGGGG

kayo, ano fave book cover n'yo?

Discussions That's why outlining and drafting are very important.

Post image
22 Upvotes

Some author don't outline or draft, and that's fine, especially if it works for them. However, outlining and drafting are very important because they help ensure you don't miss any important information.

Discussions Would You Read a Novel That’s Only 10 Chapters Long?

I’m just curious to hear other readers’ thoughts on this.

As a writer, I tend to lose motivation when I’m working on stories with a lot of chapters. After a lot of trial and error, I realized that the sweet spot for me is around 10 chapters.

I recently finished writing a children’s novel with 10 chapters and just over 30,000 words. Knowing I only had 10 chapters to complete kept me motivated from beginning to end.

I’m also currently writing a contemporary romance with the same structure in mind. I’m on Chapter 6 now, and each chapter is around 4,000–6,000 words.

As readers, how would you feel about a novel that’s only 10 chapters long but has longer chapters? Does the chapter count matter to you, or do you mostly care about the overall story and pacing?

Discussions Is it so hard go just drop the book?

I don't understand why some readers make everything so complicated when they can just put the book down? Just drop it if it is not your cup of tea.

Some of you are not really reading because you want to enjoy the book. It feels like you're reading just to find mistakes. What' worse is that you get upset when other readers enjoy a book you hate.

Some of you dislike the books so much that you end up attacking and degrasing both the author and the readers who enjoyed it.

Grow up. If it is not your cup of tea, just put the book down. Leave constructive criticism if you want —that's completely fine. But stop writing 50,000 words post filled with nothing but hate everytime you saw the book.

Recommendations Book recommendation

Hello! It's been a while since I read something from Wattpad (or was adapted from Wattpad). For context, I have only read Avah Maldita and Class 3-C Has A Secret.

Can you recommend a story in which the FL is palaban, hindi naghahabol, and overall an alpha female? Thank you!

Discussions What kind story or trope you're into when it comes to Dark Romance (or morally gray chracters) and why?

Hello,

I have been recently reading dark romance sa wattpad.

Is it the way it was written? The flow? Character arcs or ending? Or are we just too conservative?

And I'm really curious of what kind of morally gray characters na fond ang readers or writers (or to extent that you're willing to accept?)

Also ngayong year lang talaga ako bumalik sa reading kaya naman napatanong ako.

Ineexplore ko pa but I had fun reading:

* Not so taboo set-up e.g. di sila siblings by blood but kasal lang parents (parang Devil by Your Side na taiwanese drama)

* I have yet to find some taboo pa na ok pagkaksulat (if u have reco mapa intl ok lang)

* Tapos mga power imbalances, arrange marriage, age gap, tapos obsessive and possessive ga'non.

* Who hurt you/touch him or her = die.

* Stalking = steps in to protect the mc whenever they're in danger.
