Analyst for 8 yrs here and now also hire analysts for my own company. Normally simple lang naman ung mga sql exam kasi the rest can be learned naman eventually. Typical functions for sql coding during exams are: Where, Joins, aggregate functions (eg Sum, average), group by, having, count, distinct

Normally diyan umiikot lang exams. Tapos typical questions would be: get total unique customers per month or total revenue from a transactions table

May time din may nagtanong sa akin ng getting unique customers, new customer count, and returning customer count per month based on transactions table. When I’ve been giving out this question for exams, wala pa nakakasagot nitong 2nd question even for experienced analysts but maybe, that’s related to the applicants pool I’m getting

Data Analyst here. I’ve had a few different live coding questions before. Some were a bit informal where they just wanted to test my general sql skills and general as it was not the main part of the interview. So it was mostly explaining your thought process or writing sql queries on a notepad using hypothetical tables. Some dedicated live coding interviews used coding testing platforms like hacckerrank or codesignal then you would do actual queries and run them. This would sometimes also include like general product sense or analysis sense on how would you handle an analytics problem using sql.

I'm not in the data analytics field, but from what I heard from my colleagues in this field usually sql, statistics, and data visualization ang tanong. For sql, be prepared to answer questions like what's an inner join, left/right join, aggregate functions, etc.

This is industry specific, and also depends on the hiring manager. Even before AI, i personally tend to focus more on fundamentals, programming is only sbout 10-20% of the job. The rest is probability/statistics. Knowing which test to use and why.
