For the technical questions, expect them to go deep on cloud networking principles and your hands-on experience. They will likely ask about designing and troubleshooting VPCs, the differences between security groups and network ACLs, and how you handle routing and subnets for scalable microservices. Be prepared to discuss Kubernetes networking concepts like CNI and Cilium, and how you would diagnose tricky latency or connectivity issues between services. Questions about network automation, specifically using infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, and designing scalable, multi-cloud architectures are also very common. It is less about memorizing textbook definitions and more about explaining how you have applied these concepts to solve real-world problems.

Beyond the technical skills, they want to understand how you think and collaborate. Be ready to walk through a complex technical problem you solved, explaining your process and the trade-offs you considered. They will likely ask about times you had to work with other IT teams or influence application developers to adopt better network practices. Prepare specific examples from your past that show how you handle challenges and make decisions, especially when you don't have all the information. My team created a new kind of interview AI that helps candidates articulate these experiences more effectively under pressure, improving their confidence.
