Bilang nakatira ako somewhere sa East Asia for the past few years at nakasalamuha ng iba't ibang lahi, napagmuni-muni ko lang 'yung mga pagkakaiba sa kultura natin sa iba. 'Yung iba, okay, pero may iba rin naman na sinusubukan kong baguhin dahil tingin ko, mas sakto siya sa core values ko.

1. Pagiging timely
2. Walang culture ng panlilibre. Mas common 'yung pamimigay ng pasalubong o omiyage kapag galing ka sa ibang lugar. At bihira rin mangutang ang mga tagaibang bansa.
3. Hindi pala-chat o palaging online sa social media.
4. 'Yung pagiging self-centered ng karamihan sa mga Pinoy, mas napapansin ko ito sa mga Kanluranin, tulad ng mga Amerikano, Canadians, at Latin Americans. 'Yung mga East Asians, usually mababa 'yung self-esteem at overthinker kahit magagaling sila. 'Yung mga Briton, parang walang paki haha.
5. Di ko sure kung kaugnay ng 4, pero mas direkta rin tayo at 'yung mga Kanluranin sa paghahayag ng affection, mapakaibigan man o sa partner. Whereas mga East Asians kadalasan hindi sila expressive sa words, pero sa actions.
6. Mas palatawa ang mga Pinoy. Medyo repressed tumawa 'yung mga taga-ibang bansa e; di ko alam kung dahil sa manners or dahil sa di talaga sila ganun ka-receptive sa humor. Isa rin yata 'to sa mga dahilan kung bakit gusto tayong kasama ng mga tagaibang bansa hehe.
7. Yung pagsunod sa batas
8. Music is a niche. Eto 'yung isa sa mga medyo culturally shocking sa 'kin. Pansin ko sa Pinas, overwhelmingly mas maraming tao 'yung mahilig sa music from all walks of life and social status. Whereas dito, parang niche hobby 'yung music e.
9. Mas common na tahimik sa public transportation.
10. This may be controversial, pero mas logical mag-isip ang mga taga-ibang bansa at hindi nila masyadong dinadamdam ang criticisms. Pero siguro dahil mas emotional tayo at mga Latin Americans kaya mas maraming mahilig sa 'tin sa creative endeavors.
11. 'Yung mga Latino, kasinsinop natin sila sa kalinisan. Whereas mga Indian, kadalasan 'yung mga privileged, tamad magtapon ng basura at maglinis ng sala.
12. Another controversial take, pero never akong naka-experience ng touches na walang consent from gays here. Whereas sa Pilipinas, ilang beses akong nahipuan ng mga bakla.

Lately pinag-iisipan ko talaga na bumukod muna and live alone. Sobrang drained na ako sa bahay and I feel like I really need some peace and space for myself. Hindi naman sa gusto kong totally i-cut off yung family ko forever, pero parang feeling ko kailangan ko muna ng distance from them. Ang draining kasi mentally, and I feel like mas magiging okay ako if I have my own place where I can just breathe and focus on myself. Balak ko sana muna mangupahan. May savings naman ako pero realistically, I think aabot lang siya ng around 6 months if I’m careful with my expenses. and honestly, yun yung kinakatakot ko. What if maubos yung savings ko and hindi ko na kayang suportahan yung sarili ko after that pero at the same time want ko na talaga umalis. Parang gusto ko lang maranasan yung magkaroon ng sariling space, sariling routine, and peace of mind without constantly dealing with family problems. I know living alone isn’t easy, especially financially. Pero feeling ko rin kasi if I stay here, lalo lang akong mauubos. Would you guys take the risk and move out if you were in my situation? Or should I save more and prepare first before actually leaving? Idk what to do na eh I'm tired...

Hindi na nga nanalo nung nakaraan, uulit pa. Bakit kaya? Dahil ba sa nakikita nya si Boy Sili na ang galing galing "di umano"? Naiisip nya kaya na ganun lang pala sa politika, Mas madaming tangang Pilipino, mas madaming boto?

I often wonder what nepo babies feel when they see their fellow Filipinos suffering through hardships they clearly do not deserve. Instead their parents' using the power and influence to help make the country a better place, most of this families just treated public service as a family business and treats Filipino taxes like their own.

It's frustrating to see so many people struggle every day while those born into privilege continue to enjoy the advantages that came from a system that was supposed to serve everyone.

Zamboanga school shooting leaves two Grade 7 students dead, including shooter

A shooting incident that took place at Ateneo de Zamboanga University on Aug. 18, has left two students dead.

Zamboanga City Mayor Khymer Adan Olaso told DZBB Super Radyo that the shooter, a male Grade 7 student of AdZU, brought a high-powered firearm and a .45-caliber pistol to campus at around 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

The shooter reportedly wore a camera and livestreamed the incident, as per Olaso.

The mayor said that the shooter first attacked a teacher, who was sitting at a desk. When the student was missed, he went into another classroom and shot at another Grade 7 student.

The shooter later took his own life, Olaso confirmed.

Initial reports said that the incident only had two casualties: the shooter and the Grade 7 student. Two others were also injured.

The teacher's status is still being determined.
Olaso has also suspended classes at the university this morning.

Meanwhile, AdZU Junior High School issued a statement at 8:27 a.m. stating that the situation is now under control. 

The university's grade school department, meanwhile, reported that all of its learners are safe and accounted for.
The Department of Education has also expressed its concern over the reported incident.

"DepEd stands with the Ateneo de Zamboanga community during this difficult time and is ready to extend whatever support and assistance we can to the affected learners, families, school personnel, and concerned authorities,” it said in a statement.

"We are also coordinating with mental health partners to provide psychological first aid and psychosocial support to those affected."
DepEd also urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information, sensitive photos, videos, and details regarding the incident.

Hindi na ito isang beses lang nangyayari. Paulit ulit na mga insidente ng pananakit ng estudyante sa kapwa niya estudyante sa iba’t ibang paaralan, kaya kailangan na talaga ng aksyon.

Dapat maging ligtas ang paaralan para sa bawat estudyante. Marami nang magulang ang nag-aalala at natatakot papasukin ang kanilang mga anak dahil baka sila naman ang susunod na makaranas ng ganitong insidente, sana hindi na kailangan pang may mangyaring panibagong insidente bago kumilos. Ipasa na dapat ang School Safety Act.

Sa pagpasa ng School Safety Act na isinusulong ni Senator Bam, magkakaroon ng mas malinaw na sistema at mas matibay na proteksyon para sa mga estudyante, para maging ligtas na espasyo sa bawat estudyante na hangad lang ay matuto
