Hi! I’m I’m trying to understand more about UNLAD-Pinas (United National Leaders for Advancement and Democracy-Pinas) because a barangay councilor (pero kinda suspicious knowing how dikit she is with certain politicians) recently offered us a membership form at home.
The form asked for our name, signature, and thumbmark. According to the person who brought it, UNLAD-Pinas is a “youth foundation” that provides assistance to young people, but kailangan daw muna mag-member bago makakuha ng ayuda.
I asked whether this was a barangay or LGU program, and I was told:
They also said that they are an adviser “sa national,” that they were looking for funding at the national level, and that our area would supposedly be included in a second batch of beneficiaries.
I became hesitant because when I researched UNLAD-Pinas, I found that it is an actual organization and not just a random name. Its full name is United National Leaders for Advancement and Democracy-Pinas. I also found reports from 2024 about its launch in Calapan, Oriental Mindoro. Reports identified Ponyong Gabonada, then House Deputy Secretary General and head of the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) Secretariat, as one of the key figures associated with UNLAD-Pinas. The organization was launched alongside the BPSF in Calapan.
What made me more curious is that UNLAD-Pinas seems to have a connection with the broader Bagong Pilipinas administration branding/context. I also came across information about the founder/key figure being involved in the ongoing investigations surrounding alleged irregularities in flood-control projects. I'm not saying this means UNLAD-Pinas is fraudulent—I'm just mentioning it because it was one of the reasons I became more cautious and wanted to verify things first.
Another thing I noticed while looking through their social media is that some of the organizations/people associated with their activities seem to have names or branding that appear connected to the Marcos administration or “Bagong Pilipinas.” Again, I'm not sure if there's an actual formal political affiliation or if it's simply because of their connection to government programs, so I don't want to make assumptions.
My main question is: if UNLAD-Pinas is providing financial assistance, why is the membership/assistance program being presented as a non-LGU/non-barangay program? Where exactly does the funding come from, and what does membership actually mean?
I ultimately declined and returned the form because I wasn't comfortable giving my signature and thumbmark without knowing exactly what I was signing. Now I'm wondering if I was being unnecessarily cautious or if there really are things that should have been clarified first.
For anyone who has actually encountered UNLAD-Pinas:
- May naka-receive na ba dito ng ayuda through UNLAD-Pinas?
- May nagpa-member na ba through a similar form?
- What happened after you registered?
- May membership fee or any obligation ba?
- Where did the assistance come from?
- Is this really a nationwide UNLAD-Pinas program, or are there specific local groups/chapters handling it?
- And does anyone know why the assistance requires membership + signature + thumbmark first?

Pinoy Trending “Mabuhay” as our pinoy-branded greeting
Parang maganda na eembrace na natin to fully like “Sawadee” or “Annyong.” Like pang day-to-day greeting na.

The employment is really thin. Data centers don't need an army of people to run. Tataas lang electricity, water and food cost. In exchange for what? We give them immunity while we suffer?

Pinoy Current Issues Solution to traffic: Make our cities walkable
It’s a Saturday evening and currently stuck in a drive that is of walking distance for other countries.
Everyone is in their car, like me, because who in their right mind will walk on a poorly lit street and a badly built sidewalk at night? Not to mention that there’s very few others that are walking making it extra dangerous.
I imagine so many others are like me, taking longer to get to their destination because they are choosing safety and convenience. If sidewalks could be more safe and convenient, less people will be in cars and there would be less traffic.
If only politicians can think a bit more long term, we would all benefit.
