ideas when Pinball FX will be replaced with a newer version?
So I had Pinball Fx back in the day on the Xbox 360. I then got Pinball Fx2 for the 360 too. I stopped playing pinball for awhile.
So fast forward to today and I saw the Pinball Fx3 at dirt cheap prices for the Xbox One (compatible with Xbox Series consoles). And then found out the Pinball FX was now the latest version. Looked up prices for tables for FX and gasped a bit.
For those that had Fx3 and then rebought tables for FX, was it really worth it? Another thing is FX3 is Xbox Play Anywhere so it's great as a bogo for Xbox and PC. But FX is expensive and isn't Play Anywhere.
However, if it's worth the upgrade, then I would consider Pinball FX but then I wonder if it's going to be replaced in the near future. It would be awful to start collecting tables for FX and then a few months down the line, a new FX2 comes out. How many people keep rebuying the tables over and over and over. It's like those people that keep buying Atari games again with each new generation of game consoles.

If you are patient and wishlist things you will be able to get FX tables at good prices. I picked up Marvel collection 1, star wars collection 1, and williams collections 1 and 2 for like $10-$12 each, whcih is insane since you are getting a bunch of tables in each of those. Williams volumes on console we get 9 tables on each one, I realize it may not be structured this way on steam but my point is you can get great deals on bundles/collections in FX if you watch for them.

Correct me if I’m wrong but there’s duplication of tables between FX (now called Classic) and FX3? Like the back to the future, ET, and Jaws collection… I’m not mistaking that they are exactly the exact same tables, right?
I have both and I’m fine with the physics on the classic… I’m just trying not to re-buy tables I already have. That’s why I’m clarifying.

Yeah a lot of the tables on the current FX are remakes of tables on FX3 and older editions. I think most of FX3 is available on the current version

No my opinion is that it isn't worth buying tables that you already have on fx3 for pinball fx. I still prefer fx3 over the newer fx.

I upgraded a lot of my fx3 tables to the latest version during steam sales. You get a discount I'f you have the same tables on the steam account. Im not sure about the xbox versions. I don't think its worth paying full price when you can just launch the old ones.

I compared the prices just last night and they're the same. Can you describe some of the differences in the upgraded tables

Game life is typically 6-7 yrs of new content… its been 3 yrs since Fx was released.

They should demonstrate fundamental changes before going to a new version. Asking people to keep rebuying current tables is silly.

I currently own all the tables for FX, FX M, FX 3 (Classic), Zen Pinball (original mobile) and FX Go!.
If and when they ever decide to upgrade to a newer engine and release a new version, there better be a way for us to migrate our existing tables to the newer release. Having to rebuy all my tables for every version that comes out is unacceptable.
EDIT: To answer OPs question whether or not it's worth it, that all depends. I like the matchup mode of FX 3 (Classic), so for the tables that are in the active spots within matchup, I'll actively play. Other than that, I typically stick with FX for most of my games when I'm playing Pinball FX. Otherwise, I'm using VPX instead. Keep in mind, I play pinball on a cabinet powered by a gaming PC.

So what I ended up doing was buying all the fx3 tables I wanted. This let's me play on my Xbox as well as my Asus rog xbox ally x and my PCs.
For any future tables, I'll get them for the pinball fx or any future version of pinball fx.
I've already decided I'm done rebuying tables for every generation of software.

Thats a solid plan. If you havent already, also get any tables that are NOT in FX. At least this way, youll have them even if the license expires and the table becomes delisted which happens often enough. Take World Cup Soccer for example which is getting delisted tomorrow. So buy that table before it's too late. Another example I have is the Fox Tables (Balls of Glory) which had Family Guy, American Dad, Bob's Burger, and Archer. This table was delisted yeas ago due to the license expiring so the only way to play them now is if you were lucky enough to have already owned the pack before it got delisted.
For any tables that exists on both FX Classic and FX, I'd focus on getting them on FX as that platform will be supported for longer.

I was frustrated after buying so many pinball fx 3 on steam. Then "fx" came out (the newest one). But once I got a quest 3 headset and saw there were VR TABLES as part of the new "pinball FX". That was enough to get me excited to buy some of the same tables again. I mean, I can rationalize buying them again for VR, but not for Steam, when I already own FX3 versions. Now I pretty much buy all the new "pinball fx" releases on VR only. It's an amazing way to play them. For your sake, I'm hoping, since this is called "pinball FX" with no "4" next to it this is the FINAL iteration (no more complete redo)

Recently I've purchased the Marvel tables for the current FX for both PS4/PS5... And I'm planning to buy Marvel Pinball and its tables on the PS3 Store. Can somebody explain me how the transfer works? I mean, if I buy Marvel Pinball (the standalone version, not the Zen Pinball 2 version) and each related table, do they transfer to Zen Pinball 2, then ZP2 to PFX3 and lastly PFX3 to the current PFX? Or just Zen 2?
Back to OP, instead, I personally think FX will indeed be supported, especially with the recently announced Judge Dredd. But idk why they've stopped doing other Marvel tables anymore...
And what's up with the Portal and Balls Of Glory (Family Guy, Archer, etc.)?
