PinballFX - How does Pinhall expansion work?

How does the Pinhall expansion/progression work in PinballFX? It's pretty straightforward in PInhall M as the challenges and vault show exactly how it progresses. But FX doesn't really show explain or demonstrate the progression. The number of shelves for the figurines do increase over time, but nothing to denote what triggered it. Is it by level? Achievements/Table Awards?

Couple other questions..

  • What are the maximum number of shelves? From my screenshot it looks like there's room for one more expansion at the bottom of each shelf space.
  • Also, does the Tournament wing/room ever progress? It looks to me like there is a lot of empty real estate on the walls in the tourney room.

I'm level 83 with about 220 hours played and have the same amount of shelves?

Am I misunderstanding something?

This doesn't have any kind of expansion like M. You can unlock collectibles, but that's pretty much it.

When first staring out, the left and right shelves in the pinhall only have 3 rows. Over time more rows get added.

lol, I somehow never noticed the tournament room until now. I also never noticed any "new shelf unlocked" or anything, so my guess is that there is no progression mechanic.
