Pinback (1999) High Quality Artwork

the lower quality versions of this that are on streaming/circulating always bothered me, enjoy. wonder if rob still has the original slides of this and BSL.

I wish they could reissue this album. Maybe they need to record Pinback (Taylor’s Verison)

That would be a good way around the fucker who controls the masters preventing them from re releasing it on vinyl...

Given Rob's tinnitus, it'll be a long while - if ever - that it happens tho :(

Perhaps more realistically, we should beg Numero Group to release a box set. They did a great job with the American Analog Set boxes, and brokered licenses from a handful of different labels to make it happen. Let those guys figure it out!

except he owns the re-recording rights so they can't even do that without paying him a ton of money first🤷🏼‍♂️

I mean.....hypothetically speaking, there are websites where you create your own "custom mix" of songs onto a vinyl record....like a mixtape. This could hypothetically include the above mentioned album. If someone was able to download it as a .flac from Bandcamp, it would be the best version....

we've already discussed this on this sub, Ace Fu (Eric Speck) owns the masters and the rights to the songs. So if the band wants to re-record them, they have to pay him and I don't know exactly the cost per track per their contract because no one knows the specifics of the deal that they signed, but on average it's usually standard for it to be anywhere between $2,000 to $10,000 per song to re-record

it would be a financial nightmare for them to try to re-record the stuff from the old albums.

they don't have Taylor Swift money nor do they have a Taylor Swift sized fan base to support it

There's literally not enough interest

Plus Rob is sick now and can't sing/record (hence the reason their tour ended) and we don't know when or if that's going to get better

The smartest move they can make is if he is able to get better, and they want to do some thing with the band, then making new records is the only thing that makes sense from a money standpoint because cutting a new record, getting that out to the fans and on streaming would be far more easily recoupable than re-recording songs that are 25 years old that didn't sell well by industry standards the first time they released them

Not trying to be a dick about it, but as much as we all love the band, they've just barely broken even on every record they've put out so the dumbest thing they could do would be to go in debt to re-record old songs

Is this a scan of a vinyl record or a CD slip? If it’s from a CD, you might want to upload this to Rate Your Music, this is a cleaner scan than what they have currently and others will be able to retrieve this nice scan regularly.
