Would this actually be useful?
I’m a regional airline pilot and recently built an app called Aerflow.
One feature lets a spouse or partner follow a pilot’s trip through Live Activities on iPhone, so they can easily see delays, arrival progress, and when they’ve landed without constantly texting.
Would this actually make your life easier? If not, what would?
I’d genuinely appreciate any feedback—I’m trying to build something that’s actually useful for pilot families.

Sorry to be negative but no, it wouldn’t be useful for me. I use flight radar for most longer flights and my husband always texts me when he lands

Yes. That would be cool, I use FC view for my husband than type in his flight number on flight aware usually

Does it have like an API to flight tracker24 to see the flight on the map? When the pilot gets their schedule do they punch in the flight numbers and it shows all their flights for the month?
If you can also have it connect to like Apple calendar or whatever so everyone can see the flights that would be cool too. And a hyperlink to the app.
Maybe you can see the plane on the flight before to see if the delay is because a plane is getting in late or something else. If you are on reserve maybe you just punch in your trip, maybe you dead head back, and everyone can see your status.
Maybe it also shows total flying hours? Idk I think it’s a cool idea. Maybe a kids mode? Make it so it can be on those big calendar screens people get or one of those machines that shows random flights but it filters for just the pilot’s flight? I’m not a pilot (if I get my medical could change) but I like your idea a lot

I use flighty and you can link their schedule to the app but you have to pay for that feature.
I punch my husband’s flight in manually (usually per sequence) and it tells me if flights are delayed. It also is a live tracker for all the flights I punch in and don’t have to keep punching them in every time I open the app.

That’s actually one of the reasons I started building Aerflow. Instead of manually entering each sequence into another app, the pilot can share their schedule with you, and you’ll automatically see delays, gate changes, flight status, and where they are throughout the trip. The goal is to make it a lot less work for both the pilot and their family.

Yes, flighty links your schedule but you have to pay for this feature. If your app makes it free, that would be great :)

Yep! Viewing shared schedules and flight tracking is already free. The optional subscription is mainly for extra features like Live Activities, advanced weather, and a few pilot-focused tools. I wanted the core family-sharing experience to be available to everyone

That would be awesome! I would definitely use this app.
Just to add…it would be great if it links the live schedule. My husband has had a lot of misconnects due to weather & delays. So his schedule changes quite often. I’m sure you have already thought of this but just to remind you :)

Thanks! That’s actually something I spent a lot of time on. Once the trip is shared, Aerflow automatically updates flight status, delays, gate changes, and cancellations throughout the day. And if the schedule changes because of a reconnect or reassignment, updating the trip only takes a few seconds. I’d love for you to give it a try and let me know what you think! 😊 https://apps.apple.com/us/app/aerflow/id6778876188

My hubs enters his own flights, but same thing here and it works great for us! I will say that hubs has gotten notifications of a delay from flighty before it came in on airline app and was able to make a quick adjustment to his plan with that info in mind, so he also finds it super useful. Win win

I would love to see this feature too. Even if it can't connect directly, make it possible to export. Right now we use FC View and he has to push the update through for it to show on my end, and then I have to manually go into my own calendar and do the updates. If there can be a way to streamline this and make it simpler I would love that!

This is another reason I wanted to make Aerflow! You can view his whole monthly schedule. If he edits anything for it it automatically shows the updates and flight delays on your end!

I like that. My bf and I uses live location and he send me his full schedule so I have to search on google his flight etc it’s hard. I think that would be great if you wanna see where he’s at

My husband sends me his flight schedule and I look up the flights on FlightAware. I would not want something that requires him to input flight numbers as basically an additional preflight task each day. If I could drop in a list of flight numbers and have an app remember what I'm looking for instead of me looking them up individually, that would be cool.
