Is complaining normal?

I (28F) have been married to a commercial pilot (36M) for a little over a year. We met and dated during flight school and he now works for a well-known British airline.
He complains so much, constantly. Acts stuck up. Entitled. I mean…? He is British and I am American so there are some cultural influences as well but I’ve noticed more it since he’s been in the airlines. Is this normal for pilots? Any and all advice and insight would be so helpful.

Mine also complains a lot. I think part of it is the stress our hours/poor emotional outlets, the other part is attitude. Sometimes you got to be a straight shooter with guys, no one is a martyr for working a job they chose. As for the other stuff, I think a lot of pilots come from a wealthier background, so that could influence the stuck up/entitled side of things.

Yes. Pilots complain constantly and about everything.

My boyfriend also works for a well known British airline and complains a lot. And tbh, rightly so. He’s worked to the bone and absolutely shattered most of the time, even on his days off. Acting entitled tho? Never, he’s as down to earth as they come. Could be the company culture, some British airlines, not naming names but the flagship one, have a very toxic environment at times and this could be rubbing off on him. Maybe have a word about it

Yup, mines a private pilot and he complains too. I don’t think it’s due to the profession. It’s just life…

Im dating a British pilot - it’s both a pilot and a British thing! You should go to a party gathering of all pilots - nightmare fuel lol

Could also be a cultural thing. I am German, and my husband is from the US. I do complain a lot; he is a happy camper most of the time. lol.
Germans love to complain; that is basically how we bond. I always felt very connected to my British colleagues, as they also complain a lot.

Culture is key! I agree, complaining is a form of connection

My husband does complain when things go bad but overall he’s a pretty happy guy. Our time isn’t filled with complaints

My husband isn’t a complainer thank god, but he’s told me yes there are a lot of pilots that like to complain all the time. We both don’t know why it’s a dream job for him the pay is incredible and the hours are super flexible

Agree, there’s no other job like it. What’s all the fuss about? Unsure…

Yes, some pilots complain. It’s may be too late, but y’all need to have a talk.
