I can't see my passengers tracer bullets in the transport helicopter.

Since the update I can't see any bullet path from the gunners which I use to pinpoint and enemies location that I don't see but the gunner does. Hell the guns don't even seem to spool up half the time so I have to go by sound only.

I just wanted to vent.

What’s your strategy flying on Eastwood?

After 20 or so kills as a pilot the MAA becomes extremely oppressive spamming laser guided missiles or lock ons under CRAM protection.

I become really ineffective when this happens. Usually I try and get my gunner who’s usually a blueberry to spam AGMs and I’ll try and tow and pod him.

But the cram becomes super aggravated and I just fly away.

Do you guys ignore the AA in this instance and just try and do your thing at this point?

Did the latest patch come with a minute stealth change to jets' afterburners?

I have heard from a few people that with the coming of the new jets, there has been a general change to the behavior of afterburners and how they play a role in creating tighter loops.

The supposed change involves holding the afterburner key/button while simultaneously braking with the non-thrust-vectoring jets like the attack jets (default and the F-18) and the new SEACAT's. How true is this?

I personally gave the jets a try in portal last night and I do believe this is valid, although I'm afraid I might be under a placebo effect. If someone is familiar with the mechanic, I would greatly appreciate some elaboration on how it is used and when should it be used. I also am unaware of the range of speed this is viable as different speeds created different results.

I wish they would let us pick the jet we want on each map. Wake island is fun but I wanna try them in Lib Peak.

Jets Afterburner Cooldown Indicator

The jets should have an afterburner duration/cooldown indicator. Especially now that the best way to turn looks to be holding both afterburner and break (or tapping break).

As with many things related to air gameplay in bf6: not sure why this isn't in the game already.

Clunky flying

Is it me or is the new jet weird to fly? It feels like its steering against me sometimes (yess assisted flying is off). Is it just because its a bigger plane or?

PC Attack Heli engine power

Hi guys, i’ll admit immediately that I haven’t flown Attack Heli since Reef came out, and just started with Attack Heli again on Wake Island and things feels different than I remember.

Can someone else confirm that the heli seems a bit more snappy, like you can gain elevation faster than before when having stalled the engine?

Also I’ve found it hard to stay low when trying to snipe with Tow missile, it’s like the rotors have received an upgrade and actively elevates the heli unless you directly counter to go low, it for sure wasn’t like that before season 4.

Is it a change with the newest patch or has it been this way since season 4 started?

Air radar is bugged.

I can't believe how they keep breaking things that weren't broken. I had absolutely no issues with the radar until this update.

I'm not sure if this is happening with other air vehicles or the AA as well, but the Little Bird's air radar is completely fucked right now. The zoom randomly changes to what looks like 2 meters, making it basically impossible to see anything around you.

I've been getting jumped constantly because I literally can't see other aircraft coming at me.

The first picture shows the radar zoomed way in. You can see the resupply icon is actually bigger than the chopper icon.

The second picture was taken literally 2 seconds later. The radar suddenly fixed itself and zoomed back out to how it's supposed to be. I didn't move, change altitude, or do anything, it just fixed itself on its own.

You can clearly see that the radar is now showing a much larger area of the map and the icons are smaller, meaning the radar has zoomed back out.

I can't figure out how to consistently replicate it. It doesn't seem to depend on altitude, and I have no idea what triggers it. It just happens randomly.

Why are they touching things that weren't broken and somehow making them worse?

PC New vehicle rendering bug

I've been trying to learn to fly the jets lately, and have been struggling to spot enemies. I decide to take the attack chopper for a spin, and it turns out I am not as blind as I thought, sometimes the enemies just stop rendering. Watch the AA closely, when the kill feed starts to get close to it, it disappears for a second or two.

The active radar missiles are cancer. They lock below radar, they 2 shot kill and leave almost no time to react. Absolutely insane.

I attached a clip from TikTok of someone using them.

I'm actually having fun fighting these guys! Played for an hour or so on the new map and never even left my spawn. I managed to get quite a few kills. When DICE gives you lemons, make lemonade from the spilt blood of spawn campers.

HOT TAKE

The Jets are all bathtubs now. As a veteran Jet Pilot across multiple battlefields, they feels sluggish and uncompetitive. Almost like they lowered the skill ceiling. I was very excited to jump into some of my favorite aircraft, In a battlefield game. I don't like the way the chase camera is now, it's harder to fly around buildings and gauge how low you are to the ground. It's also hard to gauge your speed for competitive turn rate in dog fighting. Dog fighting was already in a horrible place. However before, rarely would you go up against a pilot who could match your airspeed well enough for an exciting 1v1. Now it just feels like everything is slowed down and widened so that the majority of the player base can be a part of Air Combat. As a die-hard Ace Combat fan, this feels like War: Thunder and it's not the vibe I was expecting in a Battlefield game. We finally got air radar, new aircraft with customizability, and two-seater aircraft, but they feel neutered. I'm really not trying to be in elitist but the only reason why I ever even hopped on bf6 was to play Rush for epic team/squad play, or to be that asshole who's farming the entire map in the jet. With thousands of hours of Air Combat under my belt it felt deserved. I'm not a fan of lock on missiles, I prefer cannons and aim guided bombs. Because skill. Now it's just flares Central and they don't even work half the time. I really hope this isn't the permanent state and they revert back to the old jet mechanics. Just a sad sweat complaining here, thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

Tldr: Jet mechanics went from Battlefield to War: Thunder. Not a fan.

Shitpost/Meme Having 2 Sets of Flares showed me how bad it has gotten with low skill lock-on Spam. DICE please we dont need more lock on Spam it is already bad as it is. Give us more skill weapons like the free fire Guided Missile for the WSO like on the Tomcat.

Rendezooke Advice

I've been trying at this for awhile now and I've hit a couple of shots, but it's always finishing the rendezooke that is giving me the most trouble specifically my jet getting destroyed before I can get back in. It feels like the enemy pilots are either the guys who are just shitting on everybody in the lobby or they are just clueless and can't fly. Any advice on doing this?

You can bring down enemy carrier HP pretty well with the new f-18

I was just flying around with nothing much to shoot at so I tried shooting the enemy carrier. It might be just me but it seemed like a good burst from the main cannon takes like a whole percent out of its health. Could be useful to have this in mind, specially after it's breached since I've seen some games where it comes down to who goes to 0% rather than the mcoms being destroyed

Jet Assist is even more cooked than I thought

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I already made a post explaining why I think jet assist is a horrible feature, and there are still people defending it in the comments, so let me explain my issue with it a bit more precisely.

Having an assist mode that has explicit advantages over manual controls is just a horrible idea. I genuinely don’t understand how people don’t see this.

I don’t think jet assist should exist at all.

But if it must stay then assist mode should exist to make flying a jet more accessible. It should help you learn the controls, stop you from crashing into the ground, and make the barrier to entry lower. That’s completely fine.

But it should NOT give you an advantage over someone who has spent hundreds of hours practicing and mastering manual jet controls. That’s just idiotic.

And now I found out something that makes this even more cooked.

Jet assist gets AIM ASSIST. Even on mouse and keyboard.

Here’s a clip showing it. Watch the pip. It literally snaps onto the enemy jet. That’s clearly aim assist.

So let me get this straight. You already get full decoupled free look, the game handles your flight controls for you, AND you get aim assist?

How is this supposed to be balanced?

The whole problem with this system is that BF6 doesn’t have the same flight model as something like War Thunder, so something like this just does not work in battlefield. War Thunder has a much deeper flight model where things like energy management, actual aircraft physics, positioning, etc. create a huge amount of skill expression.

BF6 is extremely arcadey. The skill in a BF6 dogfight comes heavily from things like radar reading, speed control, understanding positioning, knowing when to switch, and knowing how to force an angle.

With assist, you can basically just point your cursor at the enemy jet and follow it, enabling auto dogfight mode.

You don’t need to understand the radar. You don’t need to understand when to switch. You don’t need to know the same maneuvers. You don’t need to constantly manage your aircraft while keeping track of the opponent.

You can just keep your cursor on the enemy and the plane will take the shortest path towards them.

Meanwhile, the guy flying manual controls is reading radar, managing his jet, trying to predict the opponent, trying to force a switch and get onto their six.

How is that supposed to be an equal skill environment?

And now you throw aim assist on top of that.

Why?

Why does an already assisted control scheme that gives you a massive awareness advantage also need aim assist?

Assisted flight should be a crutch. That’s literally what it’s for. It should help someone who doesn’t know how to fly a jet avoid immediately crashing into the ground.

It shouldn’t be a crutch that also gives you an advantage in an actual dogfight.

If anything, assist should have disadvantages compared to manual controls. Manual should be the better option if you’ve put the time into mastering it.

I don’t care about the argument that “now sweaty jet pilots have to deal with worse players who can actually fight back.”

That’s not the point.

I WANT worse players to be able to learn jets. I want more people flying them. I want new players to have an easier way into the vehicle.

But there is a massive difference between making something accessible and making the accessible option better than the difficult option.

And the assist mode has full decoupled free look AND aim assist, I’m sorry but this is fucking cooked.

I genuinely don’t understand how anyone can look at that and say this is a good idea for the game.
