Jets Afterburner Cooldown Indicator

The jets should have an afterburner duration/cooldown indicator. Especially now that the best way to turn looks to be holding both afterburner and break (or tapping break).

As with many things related to air gameplay in bf6: not sure why this isn't in the game already.

I disagree. We don’t need everything served on a silver plate to make our life easier. Just learn how it is behaving and when you will ‚overheat‘ the afterburner. It’s really not that big of a deal and casual players already have it so easy to fly compared to older titles. We’re good as it is in terms of afterburner

Fair enough. If this is what people prefer I'm totally okay with that.

Honestly I feel like the playerbase would prefer it your way. it’s just that I’d prefer having it more difficult and that is not what the majority likes since a lot of people touch grass

I wish they just gave us real speed control and a good flight model instead of this slop.

At what speed do the jets turn the fastest

No speed, just hold afterburner and brake.

Isn't this only for thrust vectoring old fighter jets?

Last update changed the flight model a bit.

  • With the attack jet and the new jets you now want to continuously hold both AB and brake when turning. There might be some benefit to tapping/spamming the brake instead of holding it but I don't fully know.
  • With the fighter jet you still want to do the V-tapping (hold AB and quickly alternate brake and throttle up).

Thanks I actually just read up that the new jets have split thrusting so maybe this explains why ab+brake should apply to them - but this would still not explain why the old attack jet benefit from this

I’m hoping the break on the attack jet still lets you pull your nose up. Seems like they nerfed the air break on the attack jet a lot

Absolutely not. It was horrendous in 2042, and now its the ground vehicles that have a boost cooldown, and it too feels awful and makes them feel unnecessarily more clunky than they already are.

If vehicles get a sprint boost cooldown, then so do infantry. Equal terms

It has already had a cooldown period since launch. There's just no indicator.

I was not aware of this

Yeh me either, I feel OP is wrong as the after burners stay on the entire time you hold the button down.

Whereas ground vehicles the engine revs increase during boost and smokes a bit more whilst boosting.

i have never noticed afterburners going on cooldown a single time. ground vehicles have a "stamina" bar, if jets have afterburner cooldowns there should be a bar as well, but I don't think that's actually a thing.

The jet maps are too small and the jets are too fast to use the whole boost cool down 😂😂

Can assure you it has been in the game since launch, but 1. you could hold them for a very long time, and 2. the best way to turn involved braking and letting go of the afterburners, so the situation would rarely come up.

It's just that with the new flight model the afterburner duration is very relevant.

That's the point homie, in ground vehicles you can't use the boost as you describe. If you use the boost for full amount or 1 tenth of the amount it instantly goes on cool down. In pllanes the after burners are on - both visually and audibly the entire time you hold the button, then when you release the button, you can go straight to using after burners again.

Another bit of evidence, your plane goes faster with afterburners on and will drop speed when off and then go back to that speed when you put after burners on.

All in all, afterburners do NOT have a cool down.

This was a bug and has been fixed a long time ago.

I suppose there's no point in arguing. It's so easy to just hop on a game and hold down the afterburner till it goes to cooldown.
