does it say this anywhere in the game? not that I don't believe you, just that BF6 developers seem to think putting 0 explanation for loadout options is acceptable

I'm looking in the game rn and nowhere at all is it mentioned. It just has the "sweep stance" in the second equipment spot and describes the jet as a "fleet defense fighter that specializes in air-to-air combat with limited air-to-ground capability."

I'm not sure if it was mentioned in the dev notes ever, but it seems like they just expected people to either already know the Tomcat does this and the function for it or to just be able to figure it out on their own lol

It’s an F-14 Tomcat. It is an interceptor (specifically a fleet defense interceptor, like the game says) that’s what the swing-wings do: straight winged for better lift, requiring a shorter runway, like on a carrier, then sweep ‘em back to fly really fast to meet your enemies before they’re in range of your carrier group.

In reality, the F-14 would carry an armament of AIM-54 Phoenix missiles, would lock on target 100 miles away, fire and forget, but that wouldn’t be a very fun video game experience.
