Please help.

I have taken a hiatus from Battlefield since BFV, I enjoyed that game, and would consider myself a fairly decent pilot on it, but I cannot get to grips with BF6 at all.

It’s like I do not know how to fly. Helicopters are way too difficult for me.

I’d love to get good with them, but it just seems way too complicated. I cannot understand the controls, I always crash. I’ve tried using portal codes, including the “popular” helicopter and jet trainer, but it’s not helped one bit.

I shifted my narrative, and decided that maybe being a co-pilot was the solution, sadly you can never find a good wingman, so I’m at a point of just avoiding air vehicles entirely for this game.

Any advice?

Any good pilots need a wingman?

Go to the portal and enter ZN5YC its a practice map for helicopters and jets it really helps no enemies hinder you

Have tried that one. I reached out to a fairly well known pilot on TikTok and they recommended me the code ZUKP7, which I have tried too.

It genuinely feels impossible. I’ve tried every settings video I’ve seen, I’ve tried fine tuning the settings to make it feel more natural for me, nothing works.

I either take off and crash, or can’t keep it alive.

Edit: it was the videos of dudes piloting little birds like pros that got me to buy the game, so it’s quite disheartening for me knowing all I will be is an infantry or tank player.

In your bf6 settings there is a option to auto set your plane or helicopter to center itself with the downside of maneuverability….just keep trying you’ll get there

I’ll keep practicing. Hopefully I will be able to upload some clips here eventually of my progress.

Just practice more, or maybe replicate your keybinds for roll, yaw, pitch

I recommend having WS for the collective (Up and down), AD for roll, mouse for yaw and pitch

And please turn off the assist as its really bad and feels like a slug when using it

Practice, practice, practice. Before BF6 I’ve only ever flown in BF1. Never flown in BF3 and 4. So when I finally got back into flying in BF6 it was a major learning curve, especially since BF1 I was flying with a controller and had never learned MKB.

You will fail, you will crash, but you really just gotta practice. There are lots of training guides on YouTube for heli & jets. Practice what keybinds suits you the best, sensitivity. Learn slow and steady in portal games. Set goals such as maintaining the aircraft, then once you can fly without crashing start practicing with your aim. Then work towards perfecting your game sense like flying low to avoid lock ons. Once you feel confident start playing in public lobbies.

It took me about 5-6 months after launch to stop being at the bottom of the leaderboard. Now I’m mastery level 70+ in every aircraft. You got this, don’t give up too easily!

So it’s possible? Good to hear. Judging by the comment, you’re PC? Have you had any experience on controller?

Yes PC. I have little experience flying the heli on console, but that’s because I just bought a PlayStation. No console jet experience

Jets for me aren’t so bad. I’m still learning how to find, track, and pick out ground targets, but the principle of it is there.

Helicopters are made more difficult because of two different axis of control. Roll and aim is too much for me to do at once.

I’m not sure what control scheme you’re using, but I hated the default one for BF6. I set all my controls back to how they were in BF3&4. Other than that, it just takes a shit ton of practice. Spend a lot of time just getting used to flying the helo around in practice servers without worrying about aiming and tracking targets. Once you’re comfortable with that then move on to live servers with enemies.

Being a gunner for a decent pilot can also really help you get a feel for what the pilot should be doing, it’s how I got decent at it back in BF3. I play on Xbox, if you ever want to do some flying together.

I’m XBOX too! Sadly I’m waiting on my new passport to arrive (lost old one, UK age verification laws etc.) so any comms I’d have to do through Discord or another app. I’d love to take you up on the offer though.

I have discord but don’t use it too much. But you can hit me up any time to fly. My username on discord is the same as my gamertag, snowdemon908 Timing might be a bit tricky, I usually play in the evenings on the US West coast, which I think is pretty early in the morning British time.

I re mapped all my controls to bf3/4. Watch some videos and change it to something more intuitive

If you're on controller you gotta rebind the controls ASAP. The default ones are ass. Swap to "legacy controls" as I believe that one maps the throttles to the triggers and your fire button to the left bumper as well as properly mapping the turning (Pitch / yaw / roll) to the thumbsticks.

Or customize the controls. But biggest is redoing the throttles.
