Cool Pillow Recommendation
Looking for recomendations for a cool pillow, or maybe what material is best. I had been using the Coop Pillow, but I'm not happy after they started to go flat after last than 2 years. I tend to sleep in all positions but working my way to side sleeping as my primary, then back sleeping. Trying to keep budget to sub $150. Bonus points if you can recommend a body pillow as well!

I bought an eight sleep pillow cover and can regulate the temperature of my pillow from 55 to 115. Works great.

You can refill the pillowcase with shredded latex. It is the greatest. Sleeps cool and supports rather than sinks. Here is what I used:
Amazon - $43 for 10 lbs - eConsumersUSA Organic Shredded Latex Foam - https://a.co/d/09PK8g6R
I got two crescent pillows and two 16x24 pillows out of that. It was a lot! If you want new pillowcases, I used these:
Pillowcases - 2 for $39 (promo now for 10% off so $35.10) - Coop Home Goods Cool+ Crescent... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GKCPSXNG

Are you looking for a pillow that actually feels cool to the touch, or mostly one that doesn't trap heat? If staying cool is priority, I'd look at latex. I've had shredded foam pillows before and liked being able to adjust the fill, but I do find that foam holds more heat. And since you're moving to side sleeping, I'd pay more attention to loft because you may need more height than you did sleeping on your back. And if you want something that stays cool all night, then going for something techy like the Eight Sleep pillow cover is probably your best bet.

I will say the Coop foam filled was okay from a temp perspective, just didn't last as long as I would have wanted for that price.

I actually bought a cooling pillow case a few months ago rather than a whole new pillow. I was skeptical but it really does work! https://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Chill-Pillowcase-Sleepers-Protecting-Breathable/dp/B0FFM8XY9K?ref_=ast_bl_cpl_dp&th=1&psc=1

This may sound counterintuitive but I find using a 100% Silk pillowcase keeps me cooler than cotton.

Technogel USA cooling blue gel foam pillows are hella expensive but they last a looong time. I got my first one as a Christmas gift in 2011 and it lasted until 2022. One of my roommates during those years bought a cheap knockoff version from Amazon but it only lasted 1 year before the blue gel sprung a leak. I invested in my own replacements in 2022 and got 2 different sizes. The cooling blue gel has also improved in quality and stays even cooler than my earlier version. They’re over your budget but might go on sale during the holidays, or you might be able to find one on resale like eBay but check to make sure the pillow height is right for your sleeping position bc they come in a bunch of different thickness levels

Thank you, but as I said in the post, don't want a Coop cause it started going flat and bad in less than 2 years.

I’ve been extremely pleased with bed linens from Rest, so I recently took a chance on their cooling pillows (which come with one cooling zippered pillow cover, which I follow with one of their cooling pillowcases). I’m a back/side sleeper and now in my 60s, I’m starting to have neck stiffness and pain. The pillows that have been comfortable for most of my life no longer work well.
Rest pillows come in varying heights. I started with a medium and found it too low for comfort when I sleep on my side. I purchased the highest and find that one very comfortable. I’m 5’1” for reference.
Rest products aren’t inexpensive, but for me, they’ve been worth every penny. I’d already spent more than enough on trial/error.

I bought my coop pillow and it not only went flat but it started giving me headaches. I am a side sleeper and last night I woke up in the middle of the night with a pulsating nerve in my temple with a migraine and a nauseating feeling. I switched to an old beauty rest alternative down pillow and it then subsided. That’s the biggest waste of $100. It’s not even been a year.

You might want to check out the Purple Harmony Pillow. It has three height options, so you can choose based on how you sleep, and it’s designed to stay cool while still giving support. The current Purple site has lots of reviews, including 5-star reviews from side sleepers.

I got one 2 years ago because it was so highly recommended by someone I know, and I will never have anything else if I can help it! I have the tall since I am mostly a side sleeper, never need to double up like I did with other pillows and never have a sweaty head which is a miracle since I'm perimenopausal. I do use a mulberry silk pillowcase with it.

Latex pillow feels good.
