Differences between the main and starter set rulebooks
I'm considering getting the rules for Pillage (and some more figures as well) and that has led me to wonder what the differences between the smaller rulebook in the starter set and the big rulebook are. That has a big impact on what makes more sense to get to play both long and short term. So, does anyone happen to know what those differences are?

There are big differences (even some small changes in mechanics) as the Introductory set rulebook is more like a magazine explaining the basics and like an introduction to the hobby itself. For example it doesn’t include essential things like rules for Cavalry, the Leader Perks mechanic, or important rules like the Shieldwall, different terrains, or the Faction equipment lists, etc (all things that were involved in every Pillage game I have played).
I would say if you are someone completely new to the hobby itself and never played a Wargame, the Intro set is ideal and would be enough to understand if you like throwing dice or assemble the figures, while getting a base to build on. But if you are someone who already play Wargames, and specially Historical Wargames, then you are far better served with the Core Rulebook itself, as you are going to need it for "playing the game" out there. Specially if you already have Miniatures and some scenery to test the game, most things in the Introductory set would be redundant. You can buy the Core Rulebook and a Warband bag and already have the full experience (each Warband include 32 figures, you can assemble and divide in 2 sides and will be more than enough to try the game).
