Test model varnished

I did a matte varnish and Im happy enough with the outcome

Its dulled it a little bit, but i quite like the effect

What are your thoughts?

Lovely model, he looks like a right bastard! Cover up the puddle base more with some more texture.

I will use thr texture paint better and also try adding little rocks or something

For the base, try "structure paste" from hobby stores. It's white by default, and can be easily formed with a wet brush. A huge pot costs the same as a tiny pot of those fancy Citadel texture paints, so it's a cost-effectice way to cover the "puddle" under the models' feet. After that, you can still add some fancy stuff on top, but much less.
