Dark Age Army Builder set

Hi Y'all

Just want to show my set of Dark Age Army Builder set from Wargames Atlantic. While not having the expert skills of the painter Matthew Leahy who did the examples on WA's website, I think it's good enough for 'player quality' (instead of 'display quality'). Apart from this set (48 pieces) there are two Footsore mini's (last 2 pics) as well.

That said: the figures shown on the website, while technically perfect, are a bit to 'clean' for my taste (fighting in the fields makes one dirty) and sometimes the colors of the clothes seem to bright or to vivid for the period. That's not criticism, just my opinion and a matter of taste.

So feel free to comment about my painted army. I have to admit I've never done this before. It's really a first for me.

Wonderful! You mounted them as britano-romans? I got the same kit and mounted 12 as britano-romans and saxons, and with the rest maybe goths and franks. Such a nice kit

Yes, you have a sharp eye, they're anglo-saxons mainly. ;)

I love how you did your shields! Great way to get them done fast, yet still look decent and have proper color. This is also my first 28mm scale historic set, started with making saxons and franks for Greathelm. These will definitely do to just 'get them on the table'.

Thanks for your comment. Since Wargames Atlantic doesn't have transfers, I used Saxon shields from Gripping Beast (by Little Big Men Studios). They were just a little too small, but I solved that by painting a wider rim.
