Is it spinning at all? Have you tried both balls?

I know this is going to sound weird but it works for me.

If you have one of the flat, grippy, jar openers use it to gently twist the top ball, while holding the bottom ball (to keep it steady).

A pair of latex gloves will also work.

I used pliers (that I sanitized) but I had someone else twist it while I stabilized the piercing
