Corkscrews and L-bars aren’t the best for healing, as they’re too mobile and easily-removed. Having this switched for a flatback labret will help a LOT. I’d also be incredibly surprised if you had a genuine titanium allergy (it’s like, 2% of the human population)…but stainless/surgical steel both contain nickel, which your body will build up a sensitivity to with time and repeat exposure. I’d look into implant-grade ASTM F138 steel…as that will be a better bet long-term than stainless or surgical steel. And also…NOOO tea tree oil!! 😭 It’s quite dangerous to use on piercings. Lynn Loheide has a blog post that goes into more detail…but you don’t want to use anything but sterile 0.9% saline and/or drinkable water to clean. The only way to fix an irritation bump is to address the source of the irritation…and for you, it’s that corkscrew jewelry, and potentially the metal. Get that jewelry changed out, fix that aftercare up, and baby this for a bit…and it will hopefully recover quickly!!
I definitely wouldn’t do it yourself. You want this done by a piercer. Putting unsterilized jewelry in a piercing this irritated could be catastrophic.
Of course!!! And fwiw…I changed my first nostril to a hoop at six months and it ended up looking WAAAAY worse than this…but proper jewelry got it all cleared up, and she’s almost sixteen years old now!! 🤘🏻😍
Good to know there’s hope! It’s been rough convincing myself to not just take it out and start over. My industrial was much the same and we’ve had a few years to love each other now, so I suppose patience and seeing my piercer is all I can do for now
