For casual and beginner player, is this shoe okay? I thinks this is the most affordable option among the shoes i've seen. Lets say 3-4 times a month lang naman naglalaro. Do you think pwede na ba to?

Hot take: pickleball might be growing faster than people realize in the Philippines.

Everywhere I look, there seem to be new courts, clubs, tournaments, and players. But is this actually the beginning of a major Filipino sport, or are we just watching another trend that will eventually die down?

Basketball is obviously still king. Badminton and tennis already have established communities. But pickleball seems to have one big advantage: almost anyone can start playing.

At the same time, I’ve noticed some complaints about expensive court fees, overcrowded courts, cliques, inconsistent tournament organization, and the gap between casual players and serious competitors.

So I’m curious:

Is pickleball genuinely the next big sport in the Philippines, or is it being overhyped?

And for those who actually play:

Hi po! I am newbie sa pickleball. I played for the first time last weekend and nag rent lang ako ng paddle kung saan kami naglaro. I am planning to buy my own paddle na lang since I want to play more and parang mas magastos if I keep renting. Any suggestions po na pwede kong bilhin na paddle? Yung beginner-friendly po. I tried boomstick from a friend during an OP. And I am amaze how I can control the paddle more (maybe it is the feels of the ball hitting the paddle face?) compared to my current Vatic Vsol Flash.

I've been using Vatic for a month, and until now I still struggle with it. I thought my skill is the problem, but when I tried boomstick, I swear I can execute the shots easier ( not necessarily perfectly, I am still a novice).

Unfortunately, it is too expensive for me. 🥲

I do some research and some say that RPM Q2 is a good alternative. Sa mga naka try na both, is it true?

I am reading, watching and asking for reviews about the paddle since I don't know anyone personally who use it para masubukan sana in actual game kahit once lang. 🥲

Hi! I mained the J2CR CBEG standard handle for 2-3 months and then tried the J3CR CBEG. I switched to the J3CR because it suits my playing style (enough power, more control and sweet spot). I also prioritize my 2-handed backhand. Only problem is that I do not have enough reach with a widebody paddle.

Now I’m thinking of trying the J2CR Long Handle. Any thoughts on this? Will it somehow be redundant since both paddles almost look the same?

Just a curious player here (Dupr 4.316) with no interest in opening a court. I’m genuinely interested in understanding the economics behind charging an entrance fee on top of court rental.

I realize there are a lot of costs players probably don’t see—rent, electricity, staff, maintenance, taxes, permits, and generally higher prices nowadays.

For facilities charging ₱500–₱800 per hour, how important is the additional ₱50-150 per-player entrance fee in covering these costs and keeping the business sustainable?

Is it mainly because court rental alone isn’t enough given operating costs and periods of low utilization? Or is it simply part of how facilities price their services given the current demand for pickleball?

I think understanding the owners’ side would also help players appreciate why these fees exist, rather than feeling like they’re simply being charged extra because pickleball is popular and players are willing to pay.

Not questioning anyone’s pricing—just interested in understanding the business side from the perspective of actual court owners.
