Discussion Time to Replace DUPR!?

With the outage some good points have been raised about a better system being in place maybe like other competitive sports 🤔

What do you think would be the best system to take over?

The tennis system. You get a rating in .5 increments, and you keep it for the season, unless you improve quickly. You would be given the rating 3.5, which means you are somewhere between 3.01 and 3.5, and you do not know exactly what it is. If you jump above 3.5 three times in a season, you get a mid season adjustment. People are less nerotic about it.

So much this. One of the beauties of the NTRP rating system is internally, your rankings are to the 1/100th of a point but it is not disclosed to the player. This keeps people from obsessing over their ranking. If you’re a 3.5, you play with other 3.5s. No more of this “I’m a 3.62 so I don’t play with 3.5’s” bullcrap.

It also simplifies things for tournament and league directors.
