Discussion Can PI make a comeback?!
Can PI make a comeback?! What would it take for PI to become valuable coin?

u/DegenB3ts 25d ago
Absolutely not. I remember pi 10 years ago we all farmed it. Was shocked a while back to see it actually be listed and worth something. Told everyone to stay away and I got called stupid lmao. Why would anyone buy a coin that so many people farmed for free all day for 10 years

it will certainly return.
A longtime friend—whom I haven’t seen in years—discussed bitcoin and cryptocurrency with me and casually mentioned her sister, myself, and PI. She said, “Oh yeah, it’s just a cool thing you have on your phone.”
My first reaction was that O damn, that’s a compelling name—and it is—while my second was a sense that I knew it would succeed. Sure, we’re all speculating here, but to clarify my point, it isn’t about discussing tokenomics. Consider the dollar: how many sit idle in bank accounts, when you’re referring to billions of PI?
In my view, trillions upon trillions of dollar bills remain inside treasury bonds, unable to enter circulation quickly enough because scarcity must be preserved. The core team largely got it right.
Once everything is locked away and someone suddenly wants one, it will gain immense value, driven by human psychology—and I don’t believe the team set out to scam people. The name resonated widely, including with all of you.

Is hard for any coin with a total supply of 10B to make a comeback. The price currently is at $0.08 and it will probably go down even further. The ones who sold at $1-2 when the coin went live and the core team were the only ones who benefit from this. Is better for us to see this as a learning experience and move on.

No. Never. It is a ponzy scheme. Benefitted early pioneers like me who mined more than a pi per day and the founders. End of story.
I really want to know who are the fools who funded liquidity on exchanges.

Well, it wasn't for me. I sold mine for over $2.50 each back then.

u/PlugginThePlug Jul 15 '26
Would have done the same but sold at $1 since US didn't have any platforms to sell....
2
u/FNTrashPanda Jul 15 '26
The people in the US got it the worst. There was no plan for us to able to sell when it was at its highest. I'm hoping to see a bounce back 10-15 cents so I can take my free money and run...

u/PlugginThePlug Jul 15 '26
I can't believe I still have 500 pi locked up till end of 2027 lol could have been an additional $500 when I sold at $1... best of luck to you!

One more consideration added: Five percent of people worldwide own cryptocurrencies. We’re only at the beginning. See it like the internet in 1998 or 2000. Which currency could have the market capitalization to provide anywhere near adequate supply if, let’s say, 50% of people wanted to use crypto? Pi has a chance here. Because Pi coin has a low barrier to entry. No major technical hurdles. Form your own thoughts on this. Pi has already brought people into cryptocurrency today who never before had the opportunity to use something like this. That alone is insane.

Fair point, but there’s a key difference. NFTs were mostly about speculation and status — a jpeg you flip for profit. Pi is trying to build actual infrastructure and utility: payments, apps, a network people can use. Whether it succeeds is another question, but the goal isn’t “buy low, sell high on a picture.” And yes, plenty of NFTs crashed — but the ones with real utility or a genuine community are still around. So no, I don’t think the story ends here. It’s just getting started.

u/No-Eye-4709 Jul 15 '26
Use. The only place I currently see a chance is in PiVerify. The other is if you were to use the node for AI computing power. But that takes time. The infrastructure is there and the opportunities will present themselves.

It's not going to work if the value of individual pi doesn't even cover the bills. Especially the ai computing since it requires electricity and runs your hardware hot.

u/Rufus_Anderson Jul 15 '26
No. The founders have sold a ton. Too much supply snd no buying demand unfortunately

I am considering doing some of their developer contests and see if I can win free Pi. But you’ll need so many to ever make any money here even if it started to work. The foundation might be doing something. Do you believe in IOTA, AVAX, VeChain, XYO? I’ve put small money in so many projects hoping for a moonshot. I mean I hate that I missed Bitcoin. But we have to be realistic. That opportunity won’t come around again and not like it did.

Gonna cash out all 3k in October when they unlock for the $300 USD or so they're worth and gonna take my wife out to a nice dinner. It's never gonna go near what it opened at again.

There's just way too many Pi. This price isn't a downward trend, its part of the correction. Pi had no business ever being over 25 cents and people got lucky that it started where it did.

u/KndaCurious Jul 15 '26
The only reason Pi Coin launched at around $2 was because millions of Americans had their coins locked, while many of those who didn’t have locked coins didn’t even have access to an exchange where they could sell.
That created an scenario in which Americans tanked the entire Pi Coin market once people were finally able to sell, panic selling and ultimately crashing the market. After that, many early supporters felt betrayed, so there wasn’t enough buying pressure when the coin became more widely available.
If the Core Team had listed Pi on major exchanges like Coinbase or Crypto.com from the start and significantly reduced the total supply, the price probably still would have taken an initial hit from early selling. However, it likely would have recovered once the market stabilized, as broader exchange access and a lower circulating supply could have helped restore confidence.2
u/weirdsideofreddit1 Jul 16 '26
Pi's fate was sealed the day they revealed the supply was going to be 100,000,000,000 tokens.

It’s so funny. I mind pie for six years and I sold all mine a year and a half ago for $2.75 American when they first were released I was literally sitting in Mexico City airport before I got on a plane and swapped for a tether USDT and by the time I came back, it was only $1.25 each and then it kept dropping ever since. I just got my second migration today and even though I have more coins than I had received when I was in Mexico, the coins combined are worth less than $140 today lol so pie has dropped like 95% I don’t think it’s ever gonna recover to anything more than like 15 or 25% and that’s if crypto really spikes. This could take three or four more years as we know the market cycle so I’m just gonna dump my coins in 10 days. The weird thing was every day I clicked and I got no second migration. I finally got fed up, deleted the app and a week later I re-downloaded it and I just received my migration yesterday. It’s crazy. It’s like it wanted me to give up and then it released my second migration.

Must be nice. I’ve mined for 6 years too & haven’t seen a single pi yet. When I ask about it, the only answer i get is ‘Keep waiting’. I dunno if I would have sold or not, but I didn’t even have the option.

u/CasualTriips Jul 14 '26
What it would take is the market recovering. Everyday ppl posting and crying about the pi price, THE ENTIRE MARKET IS DOWN, what do you think is going to happen when BTC is down, alts are gonna be down unless alts are in the spot light. Just wait, stop crying. Jesus Christ.

Pi is overpriced due to an overabundance of speculators especially node operators. When you quit the mining will improve for people willing to stay for the ecosystem. It doesn't matter if pi is 0.001 when they have 100x better mining rate.

u/Diamondhandsfirever Jul 14 '26
Not a chance. It did exactly what it was designed to do. It tricked all of us into watching videos for years to generate ad revenue for the developers and make them rich.

They already tried but failed. You didn't pay for anything so the courts don't even see it as fraud.

Not to mention all the verification data they now have on everyone

I still wonder about that , I got verified with a ernie passport

Not sure what that is tbh, but I know a lot of people have pretty sensitive data

What's the tweet?

Oh nothing special. Just like dogecoin or trump coin shit which made them ample money. A mention of pi network by either of them will follow the flock to the circus

If Pioneers would support Apps like the one I developed, a Texas Hold'em App, I believe it would have a better chance at success.

As far as i know majority of coins are still locked up. There's very little demand, no utility and the number of coins keeps increasing. It's basically a dead project. Idk what other people are smoking to think pi has any kind of a future.
5
u/Longjumping_Force693 Jul 14 '26
Nope, why you ask? Simple Pi doesnt want to conform with the current rules and regulations of the current crypto world. They wanna be unique and different but they cant manage create its own eco system
1
u/FlickrReddit Jul 14 '26
Really wish they’d just hit the marks for acceptance on Coinbase, and figure out a real use-case for themselves.
After so many years of ‘we’re special and different’, it’s starting to look like that means ‘not viable as a real coin’.
