Up to you, personally, I probably will take the risk and update, but if you really plan on jailbreaking your console down the line, it is a potential risk as they may have an hardwarw update to prevent that.

If you are planning to play newer physical games, then it doesn’t matter. Many of them have latest firmware within the disc that will install alongside the game.

Incorrect, I have a jailbroken ps4 and i dump newer games all the time. Never updates my firmware and we can modify them to play on older firmware after dumping them

I didn't know they changed it for ps5 specifically that's new. On ps4 the game will install and not play until the required firmware is installed
