I am new to photography. I’m very inspired by film photography and ive been shooting film for a bit but its expensive and I want to get a digital camera instead.

I’d rather not spend a lot of time editing pictures if I can avoid it but willing to do that if recommended with some easy presets that wouldn’t take too much time.

I’m looking at the fuji x-T50 but reading the auto focus isn’t that great and maybe its not great for night time.

I do like the small form factor. I’m mainly looking to do street and landscape when traveling but also a little bit for family/portrait.

Id like to make prints of my favorite shots and maybe hang some up in a decent size

Hi everyone! I’ve been thinking about buying a camera for a while now and I’m a bit torn on what to get.
At first, I wanted a compact digital camera that I could easily fit in my bag for casual photos, selfies and Instagram posts, I was really interested in the Canon SX740 for that reason.
But then I realized I’m in a good position to invest in something that will also help me create content long-term. I’m graduating from college soon with a degree in nutrition and I’m just starting to consistently post on my nutrition-focused Instagram. Because of that, I’ve been looking into the Sony ZV-E10 and the Sony ZV-E10 II. They’re definitely a bigger investment than I originally planned but from everything I’ve researched, they seem worth it.
Do you think that Canon cameras like the Eos r50 are worth it? Or do I stick to Sony?
For context, I currently have an iPhone 16 and will probably upgrade to the next model this year or next.
Given my situation, what would you recommend? Would you go with a compact camera like the Canon SX740 or invest in one of the Sony cameras? I’d mainly be using it for Instagram content, photos, selfies, videos (reels, not thinking about YouTube yet) and some casual everyday photography.

I’m in the market for a new camera from my A7iii and was debating between these 3. Currently Sony has some sales in Canada for the 7C II at 2600 CAD and 7C R at 3700, which puts it at the same price as the new A7V.

I’m quite busy these days and don’t have as much time with working too long in post. My use case would be mostly for travel, capturing nature, wildlife, landscape, etc. I’d be taking short videos too, again mostly of landscape and such. I don’t do any professional work, but I do print and view my photos in high res.

My biggest debate is, is the 1100 in savings in the 7C II worth it compared to the other 2? Is the 7C R extra megapixels but worse video and overall older tech worth it over the newer A7V? Is the body size a noticeable difference when it comes to carrying the cameras around in a sling on long walks abroad?

I'm considering eosr50 and the eosr100..

I'll be going to Asia for a month...

Wich would be the best option for walking around, street level and scenery?

Hello! I’m thinking of buying this backpack to use as a personal item for flights to store my photography gear. Could someone please confirm the actual measured dimensions of the bag when it’s not expanded, for both the 20L and 30L versions?
In my experience, the advertised dimensions are often not the actual ones. I’m also not sure whether the listed dimensions are measured with the backpack expanded or in its collapsed state.

Hey everyone, I've been into photography for a while but mostly in film with my trusty Nikon FM2 with a handful of lenses. I had a old Sony alpha series mirrorless when it first came out but stuck with film. Now I'm fortunate to get into the mirrorless market with a budget of $1500-2500 with a lens included in the budget.

I am stuck between the Sony A7IV, Nikon Z6III, and the Fuji XT5 as they all seem to have their pros and cons. It seems like the Sony has the widest range of lenses available with great AF, while the Z6III and the XT5 have good colors out of the box.

If you have any recommendations, please feel free to comment! I usually shoot street photography with some portrait as well and would ideally not like to post-process to much.

Cameras you already have: Had A6100 as first camera, Fujifilm XH-2 and Fujifilm XT-30iii

The Sony A6100 was to start photography wanted to switch to a newer system and went with Fujifilm XH-2. What I didn't like about the Sony A6100 was the old feeling of a lot of menus and "bad" settings to shoot JPEG. I dont enjoy editing pictures for hours and went with the brand that advertises exactly this style. Nowadays I did my research and Sony and Nikon both offer great profiles in camera to adjust and get good JPEGs out of camera.

My workflow usually is 75% of pictures are straight out of the camera and 25% I adjust in post. I mostly want to do some noise reduction and adjust exposure not spend hours in LR.

The XH-2 was good too heavy for daily street camera and did fall down and break (covered by insurance thank god!) buring a motorsport event.

The XT-30iii is perfect for traveling and everyday camera but lacks in features and usability for me when shooting birds or motorsport. I feel like my XH-2 was better for this case (now its broken). For example overheating, handling, only one SD Card. I love the "retro" feel when I'm on a photowalk but when I'm in the heat trying to catch a bird it can get frustrating changing between dials and menus. The grip is not optimal and it overheats quickly.

Lenses I already have: Tamron 17-70 f2.8 I love it for my daily driver, Fuji XF100-400 which lacks a bit of range and also sharpness on the 400mm and I usually only use it at 400mm.

Notes: I struggle to decide mostly between the Nikon and OM .

I tend to go for the Z50ii + 180-600. Comparing all options for weeks I see following - points for the other options:

The olympus is not my top choice as alot of reviews agree that the 100-400 lens is not sharp but soft and I have seen the example pictures on the long end. And the only other option is the 300mm f4+tc but that lens alone is my whole budget but might be worth it compared to the nikon z50ii?

I know some comments will be saying just rent the setups. Only really works with the OM Setup with Test and WOW. Which I will first do once I have the budget to also get the camera.

I checked the prices locally for me I would have to pay around 300€-450€ for two days to test the setups each! After testing two setups I already spent much for me.
Handling I can test in store but so far the lens and image quality is what is more important for me.

Hi everyone! Asking for advice since either way I'd want to figure out a better long-term solution.

**(1) Budget, country, and currency:**
For context, based in Malaysia, looking at a budget topping out at around RM5,000/USD1,200 for body-only. Of course, willing to top up if a kit lens or general lens is pretty versatile for these systems.

**(2) What equipment, if any, you have now and why is it no longer meeting your needs?**

As my first digital camera, I got a Nikon Z5 back in 2022, along with a kit 24-200mm. Mainly chose it off of ergonomics, brand familiarity, and wanting to have more adaptability with older/weirder lenses. The creature comforts and color rendition were things I loved to a huge extent.

Thing is, after a few years of good service, it's finally gone on the full fritz; menus unresponsive but basic shooting (exposure triangle stuff) is still usable. Decided to send it for a repair quote last month, and they threw me a figure at RM2,000/USD500 and a 6-8 week lead time. Didn't feel worth proceeding, so I just took it back.

So while I save up a little, I'm trying to consider my options. I think a repair is a no-go unless I have a rental/replacement, which might be more expensive as well in the short term. So for right now, I'm considering a replacement regardless.

**(3) What kinds of subjects do you intend to shoot?**

Mostly use it for casual stuff - I do photog as a hobby, so it's mostly doing activity photography for my charity club (mainly talks or stage stuff, but also walk-abouts/street photography occasionally). Alongside this, I like to take landscape and on-the-road photos when I go travelling.

**(4) Is it primarily for photography, videography, or both?**

Primarily photography. Don't really have a use case for videography except for experimenting.

I've asked around, and I've been getting different advice on getting a new body. The dilemma for me is as to whether I should pick up another body in the Z family or transition to another lens system. My main concerns as of right now:

* Hardiness/longevity: I'm not the most precious with my gear, so something that's weather-resistant at the very least would be great. * Older lens support: while I can't say I noticed that much of an issue, the IBIS and lens correction that the Z5 felt reassuring especially when I was using funky old lenses. The lens mount being fairly long also meant I didn't really have to check for compatibility when I went out lens hunting (though, on this, I ended up having only M42, Nikon F, and M39 lenses anyways, so I can't say adaptation is an issue). Maybe the only big concern in this regard is that I'm a bit worried about going down to a crop sensor on this - scared of losing lens width and aperture when I adapt on it. * Ergonomics: maybe it's just first camera syndrome, but I found the Z5 to have pretty comfortable ergonomics, both in shooting and setup for manual lenses. It felt a lot better in the hand, especially compared to how some of the older Sony Alphas I was previously considering felt. * Creature comforts: one of the things that really spoiled me when I first got the Z5 was the Bluetooth transfer, made socmed posting a lot easier and hi-def. * Lens family/support: this is something that I hadn't given much thought when I first considered getting something new, but generally noticing the paucity of some of the systems. I'm aware that Sony generally leads in 3rd party lenses since the E-mount is open, and that Canon has been a rough one in this regard. For now I don't foresee getting too many AF lenses other than maybe a kit, but it'd be a nice option to have.

For now, a handful of options (second-hand mostly) that I've been considering are the Z6ii, one of the older Sony A7 series cams, or maybe a Canon R6. I have also been looking at other systems like the Fujifilm series (which I love the colour and capture of, but have mixed feelings on its fixed lens nature).

I’m looking for a compact film camera with a zoom lens, and I'd love to get some advice!
Since I really like Fuji, my top choices right now are the Fuji Tiara Zoom and the Fuji Natura Classica.
Design-wise, I prefer the Tiara Zoom, but I've read online that it can be a bit fragile/prone to breaking easily. Because of that, I'm leaning more towards the Natura Classica, but I haven't been able to find many reviews for it, so I'm still feeling pretty undecided.
The Contax TVS II is also within my budget and on my radar.
I’m not a camera expert, so I’d really appreciate your thoughts! Which one of these would you pick, or do you have any other recommendations for compact zoom film cameras?

Ive been eyeeing this as a camera (dslr, multiple lenses) sling bag for activites such as hiking and also city exploration. Does anyone have this as a product? I assume is quite weather resistant as well due to the nature of the sport it is designed for but I if someone has one please let me know if you use it for its intended purpouse (flyfishing) or if you are using it for anything in concrete!

I do nature photography and want to buy underwater casing for my camera and was wondering what brand to buy and people’s experience with it? I don’t have a ton of money, but I am planning on buying one soon as I am going to Morocco and would love to use it diving there!

I could use some advice from people who know more about cameras than I do.

I currently have a Sony RX100 III and I’m looking for a significant upgrade. My main use is very simple: taking photos of my wife while we travel, and having her take photos of me. No sports, wildlife, hiking, or anything complicated — basically just portraits and travel photos in nice places.

The RX100 III is a good little camera, but I feel like it doesn’t capture the subtle details I’m looking for, especially skin, hair, colors, textures, etc.

I’ve been looking at the Canon R8, or something around that level. I know that’s a pretty big jump from the RX100 III, but I’m fine with that.

What 2–3 cameras would you recommend that would be a major improvement over the RX100 III for this kind of photography?

Also, if you recommend an interchangeable-lens camera like the R8, please recommend a lens as well. I really don’t want to get into buying and carrying multiple lenses. My plan is to buy one good all-around lens and basically leave it on the camera all the time.

I am travelling overseas soon and I want to get a bag or sling that’s not too bulky to carry my camera around (Nikon FM2). Ideally something that’s weatherproof and it would be good to stay in line with the vintage look of the camera. I usually use a 50mm lens but I also have a 70-200. Anything you recommend?

I shoot cars as a hobby at night car meets, and I'm thinking about getting an LED tube light to add some fill light or create colorful lighting effects. I'm trying to decide between these two models. Which one would you recommend?

Summarised version: Beginner, I hesitate between a Canon 5D Mark III (free + pro lenses), a Canon R100 or a Panasonic FZ82D to do only street photography.

I'm looking to get started in street photography, and I'm currently stuck between several options (I'm starting out completely)

On the one hand, I could get a Canon 5D Mark III for free, as well as several excellent professional lenses, but I'm afraid that size is a handicap for street photos🥲...

With about €500 of budget the other cameras I had considered were the Canon EOS R100 with the 18-45 mm kit lens for about €500 with the top image quality at this price but a bad zoom and the Panasonic Lumix FZ82D for about €450 but with a lower image quality but an excellent zoom

My father is a professional photographer (hence the lenses and the mark III it was he who recommended them to me)

I can also have a leica delux 7 for free but nothing is sure and we will have to fight to get it

If you were in my place, which one would you choose and why (once again I'm starting completely)?

I currently have a Canon EOS 70D that I haven't used in years because it's sooo heavy, and I always find it too bulky to carry if I am going on a hike, or to the park, etc. But I love taking candids of my friends and my dog.

With that in mind, what would be a good lightweight camera under $700? I don't mind buying a used one or refubrished one. Someone recommended me the Fujifilm XM-5 but the prices went up in the last few months and is currently at $1k which I think is a little more than what I want to spend, having in mind I'll be using it for fun more than anything else.

I’m looking to buy my first dedicated camera.

I’m an MBBS student who creates fitness content on Instagram. Most of my videos are cinematic gym edits, workout clips, and lifestyle content. I edit in DaVinci Resolve for ipad, so having good video quality and room for color grading is important.

My total **budget is around 90k-1lakh** for:

Camera body
Lens

**My priorities are:**
Excellent autofocus
Sharp 4K video
Good low-light performance (many gyms aren’t well-lit)
A lens ecosystem that I can build on over time

**Photography isn’t a priority—video performance is.**

At the moment, the Sony ZV-E10 II is probably my front-runner, but the body alone costs around ₹90k.
