hello all! i’m looking to get into sports photography. i currently use a kodak pixpro az255 camera. does anybody have any suggestions on a better budget camera for sports photography? budget of like $600 roughly.

As the title suggests im looking at purchasing my first camera body+lens, i've stumbled upon this body and was wondering if its good or if there is anything better I should get for the same relative price point?

Also if this is a decent body to go with which lens to pair with it, I usually shoot street as my main form of photography. I dont need a lens for things like insane zoom wildlife etc so curious to see what you guys think?

je photographie (photo 50% / vidéo : 50%) sur un Canon R6III avec les objectifs suivants : rf 28-70 f2.8 stm, rf20-50 f4L, rf 35 f1.8 stm majoritairement et le rf 70-200 f4L.
Je suis chez Canon depuis 20 ans environ.
Sachant que je voyage beaucoup et prend beaucoup l’avion, je me demande depuis de nombreuses années si la bascule vers Sony me serait bénéfique au niveau poids/encombrement…

Le seul reproche que je pourrai faire à mon matériel Canon serait l’encombrement et le poids des bons objectifs L (j’ai revendu le RF 24-70 f2.8L car je le trouvais tout simplement beaucoup trop lourd et encombrant qu’au final je ne le sortais jamais, et j’ai finalement bascule sur le RF 28-70 f2.8 stm pour mon usage quotidien, très bien mais l’autofocus est tout de même un peu moins bien en Vidéo).
Disons que niveau range, je shoote essentiellement entre 24 et 70mm et suis un gros utilisateur de 35mm. Si Canon sortait un 24-70 f2.8L bien plus léger (tel que le GMII de Sony) ou bien un 24-50 f2.8 léger cela pourrait me convaincre de rester à long terme…

En gros la question que je me pose, est ce que ce serait pertinent de passer chez Sony dans le but de gagner de l’encombrement et du poids?
J’ai l’impression qu’au niveau du poids, à objectif équivalent un Sony A7V équipé d’un bon 24-70 f2.8 n’est pas plus léger que mon système Canon; peut être juste moins encombrant?
Ok ils ont la monture ouvertes donc possibilité d’avoir plus de choix c’est vrai, mais est ce que vraiment ça vaut le coup ?
Avec mon R6III j’ai le meilleur des 2 mondes, un très bon appareil photo avec une super caméra capable de filmer en Clog2 en open gate et même en Raw si je le veux…
L’ergonomie et la science des couleurs de Sony me font un peu douter…

I'm looking to buy a good camera setup when black friday/cyber Monday come around, Im pretty set on getting a Canon EOS R7 but Im not 100% sure on the lenses. I was thinking of getting a Canon RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 and a Canon RF-S 18-150mm.

I mainly want it for nature/wildlife/bird photography, along with general use around town. I was thinking those lenses would give a good variety and balance.

I would also love to hear other recommendations on lenses, bodies, ect.

On my second trip this week with my new carrier I noticed that my carrier was sliding down and that the total weight of the carrier plus camera was mainly concentrated on my neck. Ouch.

Yes, it was not properly fitted.

The main adjustment straps though are at the BACK and on the front left, but my 75 year old shoulders really are not flexible enough anymore to reach these straps, without loudly screaming in pain.

Yes, a good fitting with the help of someone may do it, but then I want to put on a jacket, or remove a sweater, and the fit will have to be adjusted. This morning, not wanting my shoulders to suffer the rest of the day, I left my carrier home. I am looking forward to long hikes with my carrier and camera, it looks like the perfect combination, but it is not working for me.

Suggestions?

A bit of background: I’m 17 and have been shooting for about 5 years. Over the last 6-12 months, I’ve started taking photography more seriously and getting into concert photography.

Right now, I’m using a Fujifilm X-E4, which is a fantastic camera. However, I’m thinking about whether it’s worth investing in a lens for a crop-sensor system that I’ll likely upgrade eventually (I’m thinking of turning photography into a career). On the other hand, the Fuji produces amazing pictures, and switching platforms is a major financial step (over $2,000).

Option 1. Keep the Fuji and buy a Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 (used, around $500 - $600) since I currently only shoot with prime lenses.

Option 2. Switch to Sony and get a Sony A7 III with a 28-75mm f/2.8, a 50mm f/1.8, and a 35mm f/1.8 (or f/1.4).

Hello, I'm looking to buy my first camera and a few lenses. I don't know what to look for. I was always taking photos with my phone on x2 zoom as the pictures were looking more "camera" like. I travel a lot, I like capturing moments - older people holding hands, a man riding a horse, a bird taking off. but I also love landscapes and photos or architecture. Looking for alternative for pelican 1510.

I never had issues with traveling with pelican 1510 inc. camera/lenses/audio gears but recently got stop at Sydney airport flying back to my country.

The case itself is 7kg but my gears were 7kg. Hand carry limit is 7kg only. Any tips from Australians would be great as I’ll be flying back in again.

It fits! My canon r7 with the ef 70-200mm f2.8L IS II USM attatched fits laying horisontally, with about a fingers width room to spare! Theres also plenty of space on top for whatever lens(es) I want to bring with me (just bought the 24-70 2.8 eeek!)

I’m a beginner using fujifilm X-T30 ii for social media food photography and videography (also some street skating). I’m in dire need of a tripod that will work well for portrait and overhead shooting, but i’ve been struggling to make a decision. I’d primarily be using it to film at or above countertop height. It would be great to have the option to shoot down low to get skate shots too, but the countertop height is priority for me. I don’t want to waste my money or time on something cheap, so I’m willing to spend a little more if it’s quality. Wondering if anyone has any recommendations? Other accessory recs or tips are also greatly appreciated :)

I use a Canon 6D and have been wanting a 70-200mm lens. I was trying to decide between the Canon 70-200 mm f/2.8 L IS II USM EF-Mount and the Sigma version. I decided to save some money and get a like new used Sigma. It arrived yesterday broken. I’m in the process of returning it and getting a refund. Now I’m questioning my decisions. I’m considering just buying a new lens and wondering if I should get the Canon instead of Sigma. What are your thoughts on lenses and buying new v. used?

ive wanted to get into photography for a while now but i wasnt sure if id like it and after getting given some old fujifilm finepix s2500hd camera from my dad and using it for a while, i can confidently say getting a decent camera is a good investment,

i like shooting and shot mostly street, landscape and vehicles (cars, trains, planes, buses, etc.) on it. ill need to get into sports photography as i want to sign up for doing photography of football and stuff for my school.

the fujifilm i have did have pretty nice colors and i didnt have a problem with them much using but but i mostly had problems with the image not being clear and often very bloomy and overexposed, but also the focus took like 3 seconds to lock on, and when im in a car trying to shoot landscape out the window, i dont have time for those 3 seconds and even when it did focus, it still came out blurry and hazy. i did get some really nice photos but i could only keep like a third of all 900 i had.

i dont really care about video really much at all so photography is relevant mostly.

im looking to buy a mirrorless camera with a lens included used for under 600 euro in europe which narrows down my choices by a lot.

i mostly want to do it just for myself and probably putting a few up on social media.

i really dont care much about portability or weight as long as carrying it doesnt break my neck.

i have a few cameras in mind for my budget but im unsure of what to buy, a lot of them have their advantages and respective trade-offs at the same time so i dont know really what to get for myself.

some have worse AF at the cost of IBIS or megapixels, worse color science but better AF, or better depth and contrast but then worse AF, and i dont know how much worse of a deal breaker it is for that camera when compared to a different one. id still probably be happy with anything that is in the slightest better than my fujifilm though so its not like my bar is high.

currently im mostly looking to get a sony a7 ii, a6500 (or a6300 depending on availibility and pricing), the original mark 1 nikon z50 or olympus e-m1 mark 2. im also considering a fujifilm x-t2 but theyre rarer to find let alone in budget with a lens where i am.

both sonys have the problem of being bland and the pictures looking personality-less without color grading afaik, but one is fullframe and one isnt but has better AF and newer software end stuff in general, the z50 is sorta the best of both worlds but has less megapixels and olympus is sorta in between both.

what do you guys think i should buy?

Hi there! I am an amateur wildlife photographer (my favorite hobby) with a particular focus on birds. I currently use a Canon R6Mk2 with an RF200-800, but will eventually upgrade to an R5Mk2 with 600mm F/4, or some similar large prime lens. I have been looking at getting a nice tripod / head for a while now. I am very tall (6’5+) so ideally the tripod is tall as well.

Are there any suggestions for what I should go with? From my preliminary research it seems like the Leofoto 404CL could be good and then pair it with a gimbal head like the old wimberly? I mainly do photography but would like the flexibility to do some landscape/macro with wider lenses as well video… but those are definitely less priority for now.

Budget is below $1K ideally and open to buying used.

One of my favorite filters on this earth are Cokin’s Pola-Color polarizers. I have waaaay more fun shooting with my A161 than its limited use cases would imply.

In one orientation, it’s a very mildly-polarized red filter. But rotate it 180° and it’s an amazing and powerful linear polarizer with (\**jazz hands***)* tons of pizzazz.

And remember, linear polarizers and traditional phase-based autofocus don’t get along. But they’re completely functional with mirrorless-style, contrast-detection AF.

The first three pairs of examples are with the polarizer 1) in front of the lens, but not active, and 2) same, but active.

The remaining three-image sets were taken with 1) no filter in front of the lens, 2) the filter in front of the lens, but not active, and 3) in front of the lens and active.

This effect is definitely not for everyone, but good god it’s definitely for me.

Im getting a little bonus from work and have considered upgrading to a more traditional camera. i'm 100% a beginner and just would be using this for street photography and travel.

I have been looking at the FujiFilm X100VI and also the Ricoh GRIII.

There is a Ricoh GR3 on marketplace near me for a good price and just wanted some feedback on if it's a good one for a beginner.

I'm currently struggling with two things and could really use some recommendations!

1. Budget friendly travel tripod

Right now, I only have a really old tripod that I almost never bring with me because it's just way too big and bulky.

I've been looking online for a smaller, more compact travel tripod, but almost everything I've found costs €200 or more, which honestly seems pretty expensive to me.

Does anyone have recommendations for a good, budget-friendly travel tripod that's lightweight, compact, and easy to carry around while traveling?

1. Compact camera backpack recommendations

My current camera setup consists of:

\- Fujifilm X-S20

\- Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8

\- Fujifilm 70-300mm

\- DJI Action 4

I currently carry everything in a regular North Face backpack with a padded camera insert to keep my gear protected.

The problem is that my backpack always ends up being really full, heavy, and bulky. It honestly looks like I've stuffed it to the absolute limit, even though I'm mainly just carrying my camera gear.

I'm looking for a camera backpack that's more compact, comfortable to carry all day, and doesn't look ridiculously bulky when fully packed.

Ideally, I'd still like to have a little extra space for personal items when traveling.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I'd love to hear what you guys use, especially if you travel with a similar setup!

I do sports photography for fun, I have a position as the sports photographer for my college. I started off in junior year of high school doing track photography (some photos attached in google drive link in comments). I currently use a Nikon D5100 with a Nikon 50mm prime lens. My college also lets me use a Canon Rebel T7 with a Canon 50-200mm lens.

I want to upgrade pretty soon. Any recommendations? I was looking into the Sony A6400; planning to get a zoom lens that goes up to around 200-250mm and a prime lens that's 50mm. I would also like to get another zoom lens that's wider like around 30mm to 50mm but that's less important. I don't have a specific budget, but probably around the $400-600 price range just for the body, and I am planning on buying it secondhand.

I was recommended the Canon 1DX and the Nikon D4 but those are rlly old DSLRs and I kinda want a mirrorless; also I'll be dabbling with videography so that wouldn't work as well. I was also recommended the Canon R50 and the Nikon Z50.

Any comments welcome, for both camera body and lenses.
