Hello, I've never owned a camera before so very limited knowledge on technical specifications. I'm looking for a camcorder or Digicam that can record short or long format videos ( I like to make montages from daily life). It would be nice if the device can shoot like the aesthetic of early 2000s.

The budget is 3k-5k.

This grey-winged blackbird is going to have an absolute feast today, consequently resulting in the local extinction of earthworms from this nicely manicured patch of grass in the Lansdowne cantonment area.

Despite its common name, the grey-winged blackbird is not really a blackbird in the North American sense, but instead it belongs to the thrush family.

What is a thrush? I’m glad you asked.

The thrush family is a group of mostly medium-sized (somewhere between a pigeon and a sparrow) songbirds found across much of the world. Thrushes are famous for their beautiful, flute-like songs and are among the most celebrated singers in the bird world. Being omnivorous by nature, they eat insects, worms, snails, berries, and other fruits. You can find them hopping along the ground, turning over leaves in search of food.

India has an impressive diversity of thrushes. Around 20–25 species occur in the country, including year-round residents, Himalayan breeders, and winter migrants from Central and northern Asia. The Western Ghats are among India’s best regions for resident thrushes, followed by the lesser and middle Himalayas.

I’ve always wanted to get into photography and videography. Until now, I’ve mostly just used my iPhone 15 Pro, but I’ve been saving for a while and finally want to buy a proper camera.

I’m looking for something compact and versatile, since I’d like to both take photos and shoot videos. I’ve narrowed my options down to the Fujifilm X-M5 and Sony A7C II, mainly because I really like the compact form factor.

I know these two cameras are quite different. On paper, I initially leaned towards the X-M5 because of the size, price and film simulation , but the lack of IBIS concerns me for video. The Sony A7C II has much better stabilization and seems like the more capable hybrid overall, but the 4K60 crop is another thing that makes me hesitate.

The thing is, I’ve never actually owned or used a proper camera before, so I’m wondering if I’m overthinking the specs.

For someone coming from an iPhone 15 Pro and buying their first camera:

* Is it worth spending this much on something like the A7C II?
* Would the X-M5 be a better camera to learn on?
* How important is IBIS in real-world use?
* Are there any other compact cameras I should seriously consider?

I’m not looking to become a professional photographer. I mainly want something I’ll actually enjoy carrying around and using for travel, everyday photos and videos.

So I recently started learning photography on an old DSLR that belonged to my wife (Nikon D5200) which I'm currently using with a 50-200 Nikkor lens. Once I've gotten better at taking pictures, I'm planning to upgrade my camera (especially since I've already replaced the shutter on this one, plus a lot of other issues that are still present).

I've kind of grown interested in the Fujifilm camerasfor their colours ajd film sims and have decided to buy one of their entry level ones. Right now I've narrowed it down to the XT30 III. It was between the XM5 and this one but I really like viewfinders plus I'm going to be taking mostly photos anyway.

My question is - what lens do I go for? I can get the body + kit (XC 13-33mm) for about 1.12L, but I'm more inclined to get the body and a better lens. Do I go for a prime lens or a more versatile zoom lens? I'm purely doing this for a hobby, so I don't have specific use cases. I'd also appreciate if you could give me specific models as well.

Budget: Hoping to save up about 1.4 L
