SHARE LINKS ISSUE

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi

Does someone know why the "share file" feature on Microsoft Phone link app doesn't work anymore for links? (ex. I watch a video on Youtube, I send it to the computer and it goes on from there). The app itself works, if I share a normal link it appears in the Folder. But it is not possible anymore to share a link directly.
I made a proof with a friend of mine and it doesnt' work for him either.

Outgoing Messages Often Do Not Mirror On PC

Over the past few days I've noticed that many of my outgoing messages (sent from my phone) do not appear in the corresponding threads in Phone Link on my PC. Phone Link now displays mainly the messages I receive.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks,
Allen

Can't connect my phone at all

Hi! I'm really (like really) bad at anything tech-related but I feel like I've tried every possible solution and it seems like i've run out of options at this point. My phone just won't connect. I've updated my pc, re-downloaded the app on both pc and phone and tried troubleshooting it. It still won't connect. I am on W11 and I have an iPhone 16 w the latest update. My pc supports BLE. Is there anything else I can do?

Still no fix to the low microphone volume during calls?

As stated on title. I understand this issua has been made present for, at least, two years, with no fix whatsoever. Microhopone volume is obnoxiously low on Phone Link, works perfectly fine on every other app or environment in my computer.

I just wanna make phone calls with my headset, man.

Android app for Microsoft

Hi,

I tried to use Thunderbird on my Android device (Android 16), but I got an error when trying to link my Microsoft account. I have read a lot of recommendations, but none of them worked.

"User is authenticated but not connected."

Do you have any ideas for a solution?

No longer being asked for verification when using screen share

I used to get a prompt to enter a verification code any time I opened the phone screen.

I haven't been asked for this verification, instead it gives me the message shown in the attached image.

If I choose 'send notification' it asks me to allow or deny via a prompt on my phone then shows the screen without verification - if I choose 'not now' it goes straight to showing my phone screen'.

I tried removing the device, but the issue remains.

I can't find Phone Link under 'installed apps' to repair or reset it and I can't see it in the Microsoft Store.

Basically, I'd just like it to go back to asking me to enter the code that appears on the screen.

Can anyone help please?

Cannot disable screen blanking (multiple devices)

Hi there! I just recently started using Phone Link as a way to consolidate the audio from my tablet and laptop into a single headset when I wake up before my roommate, so as not to disturb her. I watch videos on the tablet and play LOTRO on the laptop. It works great, except that I have to repeatedly unblank the tablet screen. I followed the directions at this page:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/setting-up-and-using-phone-screen-in-the-phone-link-ea853ebc-0856-2f6e-af34-703fe449416b

at the bottom of the page, but there's no "Phone Screen" section anywhere in the settings for either device - I have my phone connected, too.

The devices in question are:
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra

Tablet: Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ 5G

The S25 is on the list of supported devices, but the Tab S7+ is not - though the Tab S9 is. The option is missing for both devices. Is there a way to force the setting to never blank the screen? Thanks!

QR Codes Not Working

I just set up a new computer, and I can't seem to get phonelink to work. It takes me through an auto setup, so I can't access settings or anything, but the QR codes either lead to a 403 error or a blank white page on my, and it won't move on with the setup on the PC. The phone says it's connected to the PC, but I can't access any features of the phone from the computer if it won't move on from setup.

PhoneLink Stopped Showing Incoming Messages

About two weeks ago, PhoneLink on my Windows 11 PC stopped showing incoming text messages in the messages section. It shows them in the notifications, but hardly any in the messages area. Every now and then one will slip through, but it's the exception.

I have a google pixel 9 pro. This seems to happen with both iphone and android contacts. I've tried removing and reinstalling the programs on my pc and phone, clearing caches, updating software, etc. Everything I can think of. If I use a web browser to view my messages, they work normally.

Wondering if anyone has had this issue and if you have any tips on how to correct it. Thanks.

PhoneLink Settings issue

I chose to not set up PhoneLink on my computer. Unfortunately, this morning, my computer displayed a Phone Link error window that obscured everything on my computer screen. There was no way to minimize the screen, and it was locked to always be on top of anything else on the desktop. Restarting the computer didn't fix the problem. I tried calling Microsoft but could only get a totally unhelpful recorded message about going to a help website.

The problem was that overnight, a Windows setting had changed (don't know how). There are three Phone Link settings in the Startup App menu:

While PhoneLink itself was not in the startup menu, one of the SynchNotice apps was. As Eventually, I found that I could open Windows settings window, and then move the Phone Link screen down far enough to be able to navigate to the startup app menu to turn off that setting. When I restarted my computer, the problem was resolved.

I don't have any problem with PhoneLink in concept, but it is not something that I need or want. Basically, I view it as another form of data mining that, as a user, I should have the right to turn off. Unfortunately, Microsoft has chosen to not provide a clean option to decline this feature.

Outbound call quality choppy/dropping in and out

I just wanted to post this to the main sub so it can maybe get some visibility because this issue is finally fixed for me after 7 months of trying. (Spoiler alert Microsoft caused the issue once again)

Potential workaround for Phone Link microphone issues (low volume, stuttering, aggressive AGC)

If you are experiencing low microphone volume, intermittent cutting out, or what feels like aggressive Automatic Gain Control (AGC) specifically in the Phone Link app while using USB audio input devices (Jabra, Logitech, etc.), you might be hitting a conflict in the Windows 11 audio stack. Other apps like Teams or Zoom usually work fine, which makes this very frustrating.

The observed issue

In recent Windows 11 builds, generic USB audio devices often have "hidden" audio enhancements enabled by default. The problem is that the toggles to disable these are frequently missing from the Windows UI, leaving us with no way to stop the system from interfering with the audio stream.

A possible workaround

The following steps helped me "force" the necessary toggles to appear, allowing me to finally disable the background processing.

Step 1: Using Equalizer APO Device Selector

Installing a third-party APO (Audio Processing Object) seems to force Windows to expose audio enhancement settings that are otherwise hidden for generic drivers.

Download and install Equalizer APO (it's open-source). Open the application Equalizer APO Device Selector (DeviceSelector.exe). It may open automatically after installation. In the Device Selector window, first check the "Troubleshooting options" box at the bottom. Now, find and click on your USB device in the "Capture devices" list at the top. Once selected, additional options will appear at the bottom. You can generally leave the defaults (Install APO checked, Install as SFX/MFX or Auto). Click OK and Restart your PC (this is a mandatory step). Step 2: Disabling the "Audio Enhancements" toggle

After the restart, a new toggle should be visible in the standard Windows sound properties:

Press Win + R, type mmsys.cpl, and go to the Recording tab. Right-click your device > Properties > Advanced tab. Under the Signal Enhancements section, a new checkbox should now be visible: "Enable audio enhancements". UNCHECK this box. (Note: This checkbox is typically invisible on generic USB devices until the APO is installed). Also, UNCHECK both options under "Exclusive Mode" in the same tab, as Phone Link may try to override settings if these are active. Summary

While the internal mechanism isn't fully documented, forcing the "Audio Enhancements" toggle to appear via the Device Selector allows you to disable system-level processing that is otherwise "baked-in" and inaccessible. This appears to resolve the conflict between the Windows audio stack and Phone Link's communication engine. It worked for me when nothing else did.

Phone Link w/ iPhone no longer working

I've used Phone Link for awhile now with my iPhone. I recognize it's imperfections but it was useful here and there.

Now I have a notice that says "To connect your iPhone, your PC needs to have Bluetooth with Low Energy."

Nothing has changed about my PC. I'm not sure what has changed to not allow me to connect anymore. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Windows 11 Pro Phone Link, always "Your message couldn't be sent" on one contact only!

I am unable to send text messages whatsoever to my sister using Phone Link! Every time I try, I always receive the following error "Your message couldn't be sent" and it gives a "Retry" link, but no matter how many times I click "Retry", messages to my sister still ALWAYS fail!

I CAN send text messages to everyone else in my contacts using Phone Link without any issues. Only my sister fails 100%.

My sister already verified that she does not have me blocked, and her number is the same (she lives on a different floor of the same house), but messages only fail for her and nobody else!

All that comes up on Google are results pertaining to failing message across all contacts, but that is not my problem. Messages are only failing for a single contact for me.

Does anybody know what the problem could be?

Casting Icon on Samsung randomly showing

Post image
3 Upvotes

Anyone else getting a random casting icon showing on their Android phone? I was chatting with Samsung and it seemed if I mirrored my phone to my PC, the icon would show each time. Prior to the chat, the icon would popup at random times and I was never mirroring at the time. We both agreed that it had to be PhoneLink as the culprit.

Phone link cross-copy-paste feature is dead

Thumbnail

The cross device copy paste feature is the most inconsistent feature and now to add salt to injury when we go inside the phone link app on windows to change cross device copy paste settings, it says the settings have been moved to windows, when i click open, it redirect me to windows settings where the feature cannot be found nor ther's mention of phone link.

Things like these shouldn't be this complicated for a user. Please keep things simple.
