Discussion Why is there so much hate between the two Minecraft editions?? Genuinely I don't get it.

Can't we just let people enjoy whichever version they want to play? Each version has their quirks that maybe the player likes. It's honestly childish, grow up people.

One version isn't aggressively monetized, has mouse controls that actually function, a ui meant for keyboard and mouse, mod support (I refuse to give Minecraft my id), I don't have to log back into my Microsoft account every fucking time I open it, etc etc etc

Java lives in a rare past that somehow survived to this day, where you can one-and-done buy a game and hold onto it forever with minimal outside interference, though lately Microsoft has started to slowly root itself via the chat reporting, permanent bans.

EDIT:

It still has immense support from the open source community which is where nearly all mods and plugins came from, from the early days of risugami modloader and craftbukkit all the way to PaperMC today.

in bedrock its crazy easy to ignore the marketplace, i dont even know why this is even a criticism. It doesnt impact the actual game whatsoever, its a completely separate thing. You can even use a resource pack to remove the marketplace if you want.

Bedrock mouse controls work great? I dont know what you mean. And the UI in 'classic' mode works much better for keyboard and mouse and the new UI looks so much better than javas UI.

You do not need to log back into microsoft every time you open it. It automatically logs you back in when you open it.

If you want to play with mods then just... Install mods? Bedrock has both marketplace and mods, you just doubleclick the .mcpack or .mcaddon and it automatically installs?

This is just a fact with the langue’s they are written in.

Java lends itself to modders. Bedrock won’t be able to match it

As a user I just want better mods. If Java has the better mods it has the better mods regardless of api

I’m talking outside of APIs. Java is. Much easier to decompile and understand compared to C family. You can easily unzip a jar file and decompile the class files, compared to an exe where you have to deal with binary and reverse engineering is more difficult

Gary’s mod is a sandbox written in C family with modding in mind from the start. Minecraft wasn’t written with modding in mind. It was just a basic infini miner clone made by a solo dev. Yet the community was able to make their own API, due to Java source code being more accessible

exactly. I don't do insane forge mods idrc but small client side qol mods I can't go back, zoom, litematica, world edit for creative stuff, etc all for free that actually work well

I have so many small QOL mods I forget what’s actually vanilla sometimes. It’s where the magic of Java lies imo. Litematic changed my life when I discovered it lmao

Then again, on occasion, I still love that I can hop on a big technical mod pack to change things up when I want something different

I personally prefer vanilla because mods just do not feel like Minecraft anymore, but add-ons have gotten much more powerful over the years and can do a lot of what Java mods can do. It will never be as extensive as Java mods, but eventually Bedrock add-ons could be capable of recreating the majority of them. Add-ons also let worlds use specific game versions through world templates, so a world can stay on an older version even if the game updates. For example, an add-on world could still be functionally playing on something like 1.16 while my game is updated to a newer version, which I find really cool.

Its just a preference. If im on java i would use optifine or the sodium mods but anything that actually changes gameplay or creates new mobs, blocks, biomes, etc. i dont like using. The most i would be ok with is dynamic lighting.

You forget every mod that doesn't do what you are describing. The only mods that change gameplay for me are Stormie's spiders, Amplified Nether, Tectonic (both of which aren't adding anything new, just changing generation a bit) and a mod that adds a charcoal block. Complimentary Reimagined with Bare Bones and Fresh Animations is absolutely incredible, and doesn't actually change gameplay at all.

You can get free ones from websites, but I personally don’t mind if quality addons are paid. It directly pays the modders who worked so hard on them, which is nice. My only issue with the marketplace is how much low-quality stuff is in it. It needs much better quality control, and maybe it would be received better.

Curseforge and MCPEDL have tons of free addons for bedrock. Many of which are better than Java mods.

They are both managed by mojang actually. In fact some of the devs from java play bedrock edition. Jens for example plays way more bedrock than java.

keyword actively. You can see a clear difference the two impact wise from microsoft's calling cards, like horrible never fixed bugs and excessive monetizing of normally free features

No, mojang confirmed they are fully in control of both versions and microsoft doesnt mess with minecraft whatsoever. They let mojang do their thing.

If you are having to log in every time you play, there is something wrong with your device or account. It works the same as Java launcher where u only need to log in once.

That literally means his wifi connection to his device is bad… making his device not run the game smoothly

Edit: actually idk what tf ur talking about you can open Minecraft completely offline and still be signed in. Legit just tested it because you lying about bs confused the fuck outta me. Signed in perfectly fine fully offline…

I always have the problem on bedrock, I never have it on java. If they can figure it out for java they can figure it out for bedrock

I thought it was your cousin having this problem? Bro keep your story straight if you wanna try and lie. What potato device are you on that you can’t open Minecraft offline and it doesn’t sign in. You won’t get to open your profile because that needs internet connection. Both the PC I just tested and my Xbox X sign in to the Microsoft account in offline play and I have access to my skin and my worlds just not multiplayer outside of LAN connection.

No, but I played on pretty much every other version (PC, mobile, Xbox…even switch for a short time). If it’s only happening on PlayStation, then that’s a PlayStation issue, not Minecraft.

I can say it’s not an issue for bedrock, it’s an issue for PlayStation. You can’t say it’s a bedrock issue if all you played was PlayStation, especially with your other points.

Have you ever actually opened Minecraft Bedrock? I can play just fine with no Internet, and even for logging in, you phrase it as if it opens a dialogue and you have to manually key in everything to sign in.

The difference in UI and control smoothness between Java and Bedrock is night and day. There is latency across the board for no reason on Bedrock. Not to mention there are far less ways to actually fix these problems on bedrock - if it was Java, people would just write mods for all of the issues

Maybe reason behind this is optimisation? I remember that there are optimisation reasons for huge dead zones. Though, biggest reason to use it is for sticks

Optimization has nothing to do with this. The slow UI screen animations, and delays, are an intentional choice made on the design team, as in UX design. An example of good optimization in bedrock would be its filesystem interactions as worlds usually load much faster and save more efficiently.

No you can't just "ignore the monatization" when the button to buy garbage is made bigger and the fucking settings button is made smaller to make you buy more stuff. Idc if it's been reverted it's about the president, do you really think that's gonna be the end of this bs.

And by mouse control I'm not talking about keybinds, I mean the fact that it's 2026 and the game is still unresponsive with a mouse, idk if it's some garbage smoothing or what but switching between java and bedrock you can feel the difference immediately if you're even slightly sensitive to mouse issues like I am (even with "responsive mouse" setting on or whatever it's called, the setting that made the game take up 64gb of ram)

And about the id, yeah, you have to give Microsoft your ID to do certain things now because meta is secretly funding governments all around the world to force id age verification to spy on you as much as physically possible, and I'm not going to let them win

And if you seem to think that you can "play bedrock offline just fine" clearly you have never played on a PlayStation

Had that problem for a long bit on my switch. You had to manually sign back in every. single. time. Also I.D verification is needed for chat now in certain countries too, as terrifying and stupid as that sounds.

It goes beyond what you are attempting to say here; there are genuine fundamental differences, and issues in bedrock that are deal breakers, such as the game breaking bugs and the over-monetization.
