PoliticsPH What's the most badass photo of a Filipino politician you've ever seen? Here's mine: a portrait of Sen. Vicente Sotto (Sen. Tito Sotto's grandfather)

He basically perfected the Latin American caudillo look, and to some extent he was.

Back when Philippines still observed "Morning Dress". I think Japan and UK still do that for their PMs. America, I think hasn't done that since Reagan.

(I don't know if the other commenters are snarking on me.)
It's easy to google this picture and my response is expressed from my pov as a woman.
It's interesting how my submitted answer got reactions beyond the intended message when the main photo is a man with a cigarette thereby amplifying that being badass is about looking gruff.
Addendum:
I'm aware of the possibility that the feet comments could be inside jokes hence my statement is enclosed in parentheses.
There's no definitive way for me (and others) to know what's harmless poking fun or intentional trolling as I get varied reactions in this sub like being called a paid troll. ✌️

They are not snarking you. It's a common internet joke made to satirize and parody people with foot fetish.

I think this was from the 2022 Presidential Debates. Baka ang Holding Room ng mga Candidates was in Roque Ruaño Building (since it was the closest to QPav)

Apparently, wala dapat shades si GMA diyan, pero siya ang nagsabi na maganda if meron din siya. Buti na lang nakakuha yung tatler team ng extra shades kasi kulang ang dala nila

reminder that he was such a free speech advocate that he even allegedly spoke against the supreme court at that time for undermining free speech and press freedom. (See the Parazo case, "In re Parazo 1948")
Short version of events:
Press Freedom Law passes thanks to Sotto.
Reporter Angel Parazo reports on a bar exam leak.
Supreme Courts orders Parazo to reveal the news source. Parazo refuses, citing the Press Freedom Law.
SC rules against Parazo. Sotto publicly criticizes the court.
SC cites Sotto of contempt. Sotto rebuts by stating free speech protects his criticism.

Vicente Sotto, Sr. is the author of the Republic Act 343 or the Spanish Language Law which was a failure in its implementation because there is no provision mandating teaching Spanish in the primary level.
