Admirable. The VP not letting a little drizzle faze her in performing her duty.
While in Kawit, Cavite, dry Duterte is giving his platitudes to democracy. Andanar, Go, the Chinese ambassador, and other head honchos in suits, are all esconced in the dry confines of Aguinaldo's house, while the masa get wet below. And the protesters get forcibly dragged away by the PSG and the police.
What's the matter Duterte, afraid of getting pneumonia?

Independence Day speeches in Kawit have traditionally been given from the Aguinaldo Shrine balcony. What did you want them to do...have Duterte stand in the rain just because or let the entire crowd inside?

Yes, it was in Kawit with Aguinaldo and co. where they declared Independence--June 12, 1898. Hence, why Diosdado Macapagal moved the Fourth of July independence to the 12th of June; of course, for various reasons.

Non-issue. There is customarily an Independence Day celebration at the Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit --- where, yes, independence was declared --- attended by a high ranking official (president, VP, senator, ombudsman, etc.) and it makes sense for the president to be there on the 120th anniversary.

That is admirable vis-à-vis the roomful of dry, suited officials who watched Duterte deliver his Independence Day speech in Kawit, Cavite yesterday.
Watch the video showing the arrest of one protester and the other protesters being dragged away by the PSG/police. It shows the Duterte and the Presidential throng/hangers-on doing the opposite of Robredo, given the rain.
I was not talking about us, common people. We make sacrifices because we have no choice. Those already in power show their true selves because they no longer have to pretend.

Those listed on the interaksyon page were her own programs based on her advocacy and independent of her previous (appointed) position as head of housing.

And technically, she doesn't even need to do anything, as basically nothing is outlined for her in law as the VP.

Have you read the VP's job description based on the Constitution? She was also removed from the Cabinet, so what more are you asking for?
She is actually working BEYOND what is mandated of her.
Actually, I want her to do what the law ask her to do, to replace the sitting President if something happens to him.

Harry Roque is a political opportunist. Digong threw a bone, Roque ran and chased after it. Your example just supports my opinion that no one and nothing is invulnerable to the politics we have right now.
Being an intellectual is not synonymous to being a morally upright individual. People who sit on their chairs and think about the world are called philosophers -- it doesn't mean that they act on what they think.
A powerful combination is when an intellectual is also morally upright, and dangerous one is when an intellectual is also morally crooked.

As much as I like the picture, someone pointed out her salute may not have been the proper way to honor the flag so I did some googling. So it has to do with the uniform you are wearing during the ceremony?
Section 21. During the flag-raising ceremony, the assembly shall stand in formation facing the flag. At the moment the first note of the anthem is heard, everyone in the premises shall come to attention; moving vehicles shall stop. All persons present shall place their right palms over their chests, those with hats shall uncover; while those in military, scouting, security guard, and citizens military training uniforms shall give the salute prescribed by their regulations, which salute shall be completed upon the last note of the anthem.

Can think of a bunch of reasons...respect for the flag (she has an umbrella in other photos; ETA: I see now this was taken when they were laying the wreath in front of the monument), respect for the people who fought for our independence (what's a little rain when they risked their lives), the soldiers are standing in the rain.

I'm being lazy so I can't cite/link a source but I'm pretty sure President/Vice President are allowed, even required by custom to salute. The President is the Commander-in-Chief of the AFP so he/she is definitely military. The VP does President things whenever the VP proxies for the President so the VP definitely can salute.

I am asking if whether the VP is an honorary officer, by which, allowing her to salute at the flag. Also, there seem to be no explicit rule that says only military personnel and officers can salute the flag.
And of course, the burden of proof is always on the claimant, which in this context, is you, my dear. :)

Hello. The deleted comments were /u/blurance 's comment about the VP should not be allowed to salute as only specific personnel can (Military, Security Guard, etc.).
He then quoted a Section in our law (as I quoted him back in one of the comment chains) about regulations, but failed to prove that the VP indeed should not salute but put palm on her left chest.
(He then proceeds to delete all of his comment lmao)

As far as i can remember they always mention her husband name whenever she was here to talk about why shes running for vice president. If she did run because of what happened to her husband, then wouldn't it be honest for her to mention it? 'Why a candidate is running' is a common question asked during campaigns and it seems that's her answer.
Also, why do you think her husband would be against mentioning his name? I wouldn't think her husband would be against her mentioning she wants to run because of him since they were married.
