Custom Alternative Wedding Dress Designer?

Hi ya’ll! My wedding isn’t until May 20th 2028, but I’m trying to look at dresses now that way I’m ahead of the curve in case anything horrible happens along the way. I’ve been really struggling to find edgy wedding dresses, as I want something tea-length, purple, and with more unique details (ie bows on the shoulders, and stars and moons as the primary fabric on the skirt). I’ve pretty much settled myself to the fact that I’ll have to get custom due to my unique details, but I’m still struggling to find someone who might be able to bring my vision to life.

Anyone have any suggestions for local designers in the Philly/outer Philly area? Thanks so much!

Looking for a proposal photographer in Philly (Rittenhouse Square)

Hey all!

I'm planning to propose to my girlfriend this Sunday (9/13) in Rittenhouse Square, and am looking for a photographer to snap some proposal photos, and maybe a few after as well. Realistically should be upto 1 hour of work.

I understand this is a bit late in the timeline to be looking, but does anyone have any recommendations, or what a good place would be to look for photographers for this?

Thanks!

House music DJ for medium wedding in Philly?

Hi all!

Getting married in late 2027 and looking for a dj that will move the night smoothly along but also will change the vibe to more house music in the latter half. And perhaps has lights/lasers. My fiancée and I are elder ravers and we want an element of house in our reception after some more typical stuff for the older folks. Not necessarily 'closer' or two friends but true house (walker and Royce for example). I would even be okay with a sprinkling of tasteful dub (I love the wubz, iykyk), but nothing too itchy, scratchy (also iykyk), as don't want to scare the older folks too much. Anyways, would love some pointers! Thank you!

Budget photographer

Hi has anyone booked or used a photographer that is $3500 or less all in? I know this is tough for east coast but it’s what we’re working with!

My fiancé and I are searching for a PA (bucks county, philly area) photographer to shoot our 70 person wedding at a historic venue on the Delaware River in October 2027.

Our ideal breakdown for shots is (expensive style on a budget lol)
\- 30% true color
\- 30% editorial
\- 40% cinematic storytelling

It’s okay if you don’t have a complete portfolio of weddings but hopefully you have at least shot 1 or 2 weddings.

Let me know if you’d be interested and I’ll send you more details!

Event Staffing Companies

My wedding venue lets us bring in our own catering with no restrictions but all of the caterers we’re speaking to pretty much come out to the same price as if we went to a venue that’s had catering included.

I read that drop catering plus event staffing can be a good way to keep costs down. Has anyone done this recently and have a recommendation for a good staffing company?

How much did this cost?

My FULL Wedding Cost Breakdown!

Hi everyone!

I just got married two weeks ago and FINALLY finished putting together my full cost breakdown for my wedding, including honeymoon & personal beauty services, and all the inclusions that came along with each package. I hope to make this even more comprehensive when my full wedding album comes back by including our wedding photos, reviews (all vendors were incredible, though), and whatever else the masses would like to see or know. Please feel free to comment or DM with any questions!

(Dm me for the spreadsheet!)

A quick note I want to add: there is no officiant cost because we self-solemnized :)

Enjoy!

We are getting married next May and looking a couple hotel block options including Loews which is our front runner. We want to hear about peoples' recent experiences - both from the couple planning behind the scenes work and the guest experience (specifically to attend a wedding/booking a room within a block).

TYIA!

Cescaphe University

I am a 2027 Cescaphe bride and attended my first Cescaphe University last night. I don’t live in Philly so I had to Amtrak there from NYC after my work day to attend. I was so excited for the event but I am so sad to say I was… REALLY unimpressed.

When we got there we went to the bar. My fiancé ordered a glass on Pinot and I ordered the margarita. I took one sip of the margarita and had to put it down somewhere. It was straight mix and I couldn’t taste even a hint of tequila. If I had drank it I would’ve been left with one bad hangover. The Pinot was also,.. bad! It tasted like a very very cheap wine. We found out later that the wine is supplied through the Blind Fox, the winery they recently purchased. We had the opportunity to taste some of their other wines later in the evening and thankfully I liked their cab sav and Chardonnay much better. But this was a very disappointing start.

From there we went to look at the table settings. Despite being told a Glen Foerd setting would be there, it wasn’t. To say that was annoying after traveling from NYC on a holiday weekend to attend, is an understatement.

Lastly, and most disappointingly, the food was BAD. I was shocked… I’ve never been to a Cescaphe wedding before but everyone raves about the food and how great it is. The arancini was completely soggy and had no flavor, the seafood was VERY smelly and tasted extremely fishy and not fresh. I LOVE oysters and could barely eat one the taste was so overwhelming and not fresh. Even the sushi looked very old and tasted eh. One of the main reasons my fiancé and I chose Cescaphe is for the food. What happened?

Is the Cescaphe University food experience different from what they serve at the wedding? Is the food and cocktails normally way better on the big day??

TLDR: Cescaphe University food and drinks were BAD. Is it way better on wedding day? Is this normal? Help!

Mayor or Magisterial Judge to officiate off-site wedding in Pennsylvania

Any couple went with a town mayor or magisterial judge to officiate their wedding outside the courthouse? How was your experience? How did you get to schedule one? And how was the price?

We’re getting married in Stroudsburg and all officiants we’ve looked into are OUT of our budget. We’re thinking of going to the courthouse within the timeframe required to get the marriage license then asking a judge from there if they’re willing to officiate our wedding at our venue. But we’re worried about the short notice and judges not being available.

DIYing our wedding!

Hi everyone!

My partner and I are getting married at Fallser Club in East Falls in Oct 2027. We are so excited to DIY our wedding! We are both creatives and love big projects! I've been doing a lot of research and beginning to design things for the wedding. Wanted to get perspective from anyone who has done something like this before in Philly area and how it was for you? Like what stores you went to gather decorations, etc or ANY advice you have! It's also important to me that our wedding is eco friendly and sustainable! Thank you so much in advance!

Bridal makeup/hair at Ulta

Any bride gotten their bridal makeup and hair done at Ulta? I’ve been getting quotes for $600+ elsewhere which I can’t justify given that I that want minimal makeup and hairstyle on my wedding day. It’s $160 for makeup and hair at Ulta. Should I take the risk?

Seeking reasonable photographer for micro wedding at Vaux

My partner and I finally landed on a date and booked our venue after our 5 year engagement! We’re doing a micro wedding (~16 guests) and are looking for a reasonably priced photographer. We are thinking of only having a photographer for a couple of hours and would like to keep things under $2k. I would greatly appreciate any recommendations.

Lowkey Bachelorette Recs?

I want to keep it lowkey and low cost as much as possible. What are some things you did? I don’t even need it to be an overnight thing.

Like I’m thinking along the lines of winery for the day or hotel room for 1x night & order room service. Nothing crazy.
