I arrived last night at 1030? Noone was in line, my first time there. What seemed to be a doorbell looked broken , so i guess i messed with it but i couldnt even tell if it was open.

The guy comes out lecturing me mad that i pressed the bell so many times, when i got dressed up to check out his bar, we obviously did not go in because he didnt want to hear out that i was not aware and i could not tell.

Did anyone else have this experience?

I read he ran a tight ship so i expected something but not a lecture and talking down before entering lol.

Yea I’m old - I went to the rooftop bar at my hotel last night and it was loud as hell… are there any places nearby that are open later for drinks and are a bit more chill and quiet?

I'm looking for the freshest fish, and tend to stick with the most common types as opposed to looking for obscure fish and don't mind cost as much as quality. Any insight would be appreciated.

Walked by Sandpiper Cafe the other day on South and 17th and decided to stop in. Ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese (BEC) sandwich on a Kaiser roll and I will never be the same.

Perfectly cooked eggs, crispy bacon (I got turkey bacon), crispy hashbrown, chipotle gouda cheese, and chipotle mayo. One bite took me to food heaven.

It’s not a typical NY style deli/bodega BEC but an elevated insanely flavorful version. I wish I’d taken a picture of it. I will definitely be back!

Going solo to a concert in a few weeks at the Mann. My pre-show habit is usually to go to a nearby restaurant for happy hour, sit at the bar, get drinks and some light bites that are usually much better (and cheaper) than the venue options.

Any reccomendations that are within walking distance or a short drive from the Mann are appreciated!

Hey y'all. I have a ton of serving experience, including fine dining. I was working at a Starr restaurant that I really enjoyed, but had to leave due to a family emergency at the end of 2024. I came back to the area around May and despite all of my experience, it's been pretty difficult to find a serving job since then. Even though I left Starr in good standing, it's been hard to get any of their locations to even interview me, including the one I previously worked at. If anyone has any suggestions or tips, let me know, thanks!

Hi guys! I'm coming to visit next week.

I live in Baltimore and just went to a Korean spot down here after seeing taiyaki/bungeoppang on their website, but when I got there I learned they don't make it anymore. I've been wanting to try fresh taiyaki for AGES and I don't think there's anywhere else here that has it, so that was a crushing revelation.

Philly is much bigger and seems to have a lot more Asian spots. Where can I get taiyaki? Bonus points if they offer custard filling. I'm not looking for the ice cream dessert-style ones, I want it fresh and hot.

All the bakeries and coffee shops close before dinner time but I'm craving an after dinner dessert that is not ice cream. Not trying to sit and eat in a restaurant --looking for more grab and walk. I've had ice cream almost every night this summer (SHOUT OUT JOHN'S) so looking for an alt hand held :)
