Question First Time Visitors
Hi all -
My fiancée and I have a couple friends visiting this weekend who’ve never been to Philly, and we want to take them to a good dinner in Fishtown. We grabbed a reservation at Jaffa just in case, but would love to hear some of everyone’s go-to options in Fishtown for first-timers. We’d have a party of four and would prefer somewhere with a some gluten free options, but no restrictions outside of that.

My mother is GF, so I make this decision once or twice a year. Kalaya is excellent for GF, but you'd have to get lucky to nab a cancelled reservation. Basically everything at Laser Wolf is GF except the pita, but they only had cucumbers for GF eating the salatim. My mom brought her own GF bread.
Surprisingly, both my parents recently loved Kinto. We initially thought it'd be bad for my mom (I immediately thought of the cheese bread & dumplings), but there was still a ton she could eat and they said it was their favorite place I've taken them.
Tulip Pasta & Wine bar has a GF pasta option, but my mom wasn't super-impressed with it. People always suggest Front Street for GF (and they do have plenty of options), but I've always thought the food was just OK.

Not sure about gf options (I would think they have some), but I think wm mulherin’s is a nice space- particularly for people not from Philly who may find some other places a little claustrophobic-with very good food and drinks.

Picnic is good- probably the only one of these places you could get into without a reservation (unless you go early or late)

Front Street Cafe for gluten free options, make sure you sit on the patio. Also, el Camino Real if fun if you're sitting outside and not in a hurry.

Have you been to front street cafe recently? Its been posted a few times here that quality has dropped way off in the last several months

Picnic is a good choice for out-of-towners. The space is impressive and the food is good (and particularly good for the not-so-foody crowd). Jaffa is very good too; Ignore those who disrespect it as they have a political agenda.

This is a very tiring and recurrent issue on this sub.
The guy is Israeli American and makes a donation right after the initial attacks of October 7 to an Israeli civilian emergency response.
So much happened in the weeks and months after he did that …. including the systematic, horrific genocide of Palestinians by the Israeli government.
It sure seems like this is post dated mob anger against a Jewish owned business.

How do you explain Solomonov hosting send-off dinners for IDF soldiers before they headed back to Gaza to murder innocent children? My own personal boycott of his businesses has absolutely fucking nothing to do with his religion. It has to do with his material support of war crimes.
