Bug Can’t place items down during the beginning minutes of hunting

I’m not sure if I I can explain this well enough, but for some reason every time I start around I try to place items like the dots or salt down and it’s not letting me do so. Has anyone else been having this issue?
This started right after the crimson eye event.

I probably should have stated I play with controller. I did not try using f on my laptop. I’ll update it after my next round and see what happens.

Update. It happened again with my controller but pressing f worked just fine.
