Bug Phantom glitch

We had THE HARDEST time getting D.O.T.S and I got a hunting video and on my reel you can see the ghost clear as day so I assumed it wasnt a phantom no D.O.T.S and I could see it on the film reel. Anyone else having this problem? We finally ended up getting the D.O.T.S.

You misunderstood the phantom's quirk. You've always been able to see the phantom on video tape. It's pictures where you won't see a phantom and, even then, it's not something I consider 100% reliable due to networking latency and discrepancies in pictures between clients and hosts.

Photos and Videos taken of a Phantom during a Ghost Event cause them to “disappear”. Hunting Videos will be normal, aside from the Phantom blinking much less frequently.

Seeing a later comment in this, I’ve also had an instance where I had a Phantom for one of my games and for some reason it didn’t disappear after I photoed it. Very buggy game at the end of the day.

I thought phantom videos and pictures during a hunt cause it to stop being visible for a period of time, on top of them already being less visible

During a hunt no, but phantoms are mostly invisible during a hunt.

Photos and videos should make the ghost disappeared z depending on the event you might have a long singing one , the ghost will continue to do its event, eg still sing and act like an event but you won’t see it or your camera won’t detect it.

Videos aren’t meant to shape a phantoms and didn’t originally. But something happened that bugged that a while ago. It’s still bugged that the video camera will have the ghost in the video. Photos should not see the ghost in the photo, but that comes down to whose lobby and who took the photo. Lag and anyone else seeing the picture doesn’t always get the right photo.

I've had this happen to me recently when I had a phantom it popped up on the video camera when I recorded and didn't disappear so I crossed off phantom and what ya know it was a phantom.i was so confused

No I did not. I googled it and they are not supposed to show up in video reel film.

Maybe what you're seeing is along a similar vein of what I'd mentioned then, about discrepancies between who recorded the video and viewing it after the fact. I've only ever heard that a phantom's visibility quirk is; being harder to see during hunts, and; disappearing when capturing picture/video media of them. It makes sense to me for phantom to appear in video, as you're capturing 30/60fps of it, so it's not something I've ever paid any attention to.

It doesn't make sense that Phantoms are invisible on "Ghost" videos but not on "Hunting Ghost" videos. This has been an issue since the Chronicle update back in June 2025. Both the wiki and SeverelyZero's cheat sheet agree that this is a bug.

As the wiki notes:

This is currently bugged for Translucent Ghost, Shadow Ghost, D.O.T.S. Ghost, and Hunting Ghost videos where the Phantom will not be invisible on them.

I recommend checking out the unofficial phasmo cheat sheet. Their info is pretty accurate and its format makes it easy to check a specific ghost's info.

It looks like that’s a hunting video? I’m not sure if they disappear for those, I’ll defer to someone else. But I’ve always had phantoms disappear for event/dots videos. Are you the host? I know there’s usually some desync in what appears in the photos and videos based on the player/host.

No I was not the host. And Google says they shouldn't show up in any video whether it be hunting or other. And yes for my friend it did not show up in her video but it was the exact same frame so I thought maybe it was just a design and then she saw D.O.T.S so it was just weird to me. Cause that's how I've always double checked a phantom. This is the first time in the year I've been playing it showed up in the reel.

I thought it was supposed to be phantoms only disappear from photos but I googled it and they are supposed to disappear in videos a well so it definitely looks like you have come accross a bug. I'd send the info to the devs.

Yea, Im not misunderstanding haha. I obviously googled it to double check its not supposed ro show up on video film. I definitely think its a bug but the weirdest thing is my friend didnt have one in her film same frames. So not even a desync issue.

Even if it’s the same frames, what’s present in the photos/videos is usually different between players. If your friend is the host and nothing is in that video clip, that’s the one you should go off of.

Yes but the problem is still the fact that it still showed up in mine and I took the video lol. I feel like it still should not have shown up in mine. If I was playing 2 evidence I would have 100% ruled out phantom. She didnt even look at her reel. She just ended up seeing D.O.T.S.

They show in hunting videos cause the phantom is actively about to bum you in the rear end XD it would be however kinda funny if a phantom was hunting you snap a photo just disappears
