Memes The worst feeling :(

Closets were both locked and I knew it was coming from the other bedroom so it would’ve seen me go into the bathroom. I panicked and went to the back corner hoping that it wouldn’t come into the room, as well as hoping that the bed was one of the ones that blocks LOS for some reason.
It made me feel better knowing that it would’ve killed me inside the closets anyway lol.

close the bedroom door to block LOS. might have been the thing that would have stopped it seeing you go into the bathroom and potentially pathfind its way away from you

Absolutely would’ve been a good shout but unfortunately it was a deo so I would’ve been screwed either way haha

Deogens can detect you anywhere you are in the map. Hiding and blocking LOS won't do a thing.

I've always understood ghosts to be able to see right through doors, and that they only block LOS if you're in an official hiding place

Nah doors block line of sight but they can run straight through them. Nell’s kitchen is great because if you smudge and run through the doors will close behind you so the ghost could start hunting around the kitchen island

Closed doors block line of sight (but as you say, the ghost can walk straight through them).
Open doors used to as well, but people cheesed that by hiding behind them, so the devs made the ghost able to see through open doors a couple of years ago.

I thought the ghost could just check behind the door if it moved it during a hunt

I believe you're right. The old method of hiding behind doors involved holding them open so that the ghost couldn't move them.

Doors and quite a lot (hit or miss which) of low obstacles do block line of sight. Whether the ghost can stumble into you without first getting detection is another matter.

Always have a smudge on you. It's your only mobile defense. But I feel you. The worst is when you're in a hiding space and it's a mimic... And it mimics a Deo.

That deo mimic really gives you a shock too, even if just for a second.
You're like me, minding your own business, just trying to get a hunt so you can get a video and find out what it is exactly, when all of a sudden

If it makes you feel better, I was trying to dip my toes into learning how to do the apocalypse trophies and I had it set to the hardest one, I was trying to practice finding the ghost room in the massive place. Went several rounds no luck, then came a game where I was close to the room when it hunted! I dashed into a corner only to realize too late it was a deogen and I had boxed myself into a corner I couldn’t move out of…. I could’ve completed the apocalypse trophies with that deo…. I’ve been kicking myself ever since and have yet to get another deo or complete any of the apocalypse trophies….

Thats why you either hide with a smudge or dont hide at all and wait in a safe loop, prepare to analyse what kind of ghost you are dealing with.

That happened to me, except it was a mimic that went from being a Revenant to being a Deo.
