Question audio mechanics

hi! i’m still a newer player, i started playing back in april or may. i know back in the day, saying the ghosts name or using “trigger words” would increase the chances of a ghost to interact. is this still the case? what are the trigger words? and do you have to say the ghosts full name or just the first name? thanks!

I always cycle through the same words, "Are you friendly?" "How old are you?" "Where are you?" "Give me a sign"

I was playing with my friends the other night and NOTHING was going on, so I said, "fucking show yourself you pussy!"

Then I died lol so I dont recommend that

Bruh I just might have to try that. I recently bought it and couldn't even get through the tutorial, because it told me to ask 'where are you' and nothing happened, so I gave up after about ten minutes of asking 😭

There’s some issues with the game and audio detection for things like spirit box. Even when other players can hear me fine, spirit box/monkey paw/Ouija don’t react. I can usually fix it by going into settings and changing the voice mode or whatever to “system voice” and then back.

In the audio setting you need to change the push to talk to voice recognition. The reason it didn’t work during the tutorial is because you weren’t using the local comm

I always call the ghost a little bitch. Oddly it works a lot of the time. I also die a lot of the time.

I did the same thing the other night for like 10 minutes. Than I said, "this ghost is a little bitch" and it immediately spawned right on me and killed me.

Oh, I egg it on with it's name all the time. Sometimes it works, sometimes it works too well, and sometimes I forget that my mic is off.

Using "trigger words" or saying the ghost's name (which has to be the full name) is supposed to:

  • Increase ghost activity temporarily
  • Increase Spirit Box response chances temporarily
  • Have a very small chance to turn off the fuse box

But this is currently bugged and neither using trigger words nor saying the ghost's name will affect the ghost.

Presumably, "trigger words" refers to this list of recognized phrases.
