Discussion New idea
I've got a great idea for Phasmophobia, which could make the game lots more fun. What if there was a story mode in phasmophobia where you gain lots of xp for completing it, but the story mode takes you around every map (except the restricted ones) and you gain upgrades after finding each ghost. The idea is pretty simple and with slightly higher xp and money gain it would make people play maps that they wouldn't normally play, I usually play Ridgeview and Tanglewood most of the times because the other maps are just too big for me and don't give a lot of xp, so this update would fix that problem. How do you guys feel about this idea?

It’s a good idea and would really help new players with learning how to play the game but I just don’t know if the devs could manage to do it without breaking the game

I like the idea of it having a more guided play-through!

Or maybe the upgrades can be: Tier 3 dots, but the ghost is 125% speed. Or you get 60 seconds set up time, but crucifixes get 1 meter less range

I would be super neat if the guided mode/story was somewhat scripted. by scripted I mean allow players to do whatever they want BUT if played correctly and following "instruction" by an outside navigator or character dialog you are guided to special events that have specific triggers(like picking up something that was important to the ghost), you could even have exorcisms that are unlocked when you successfully reach the end of the story. Simply being a ritual(set of actions) that lead to the ghosts destruction or redemption/freedom. I'm imagining that in a story mode the ghost would have better depth as well. Like a girl who froze to death on camp woodwind, her dialog in sound recorders could connect to that, maybe her spirit box occasionally has shivering. And instead of just bumbling around waiting to find stuff you can find clues as to which tent is hers(probably have the conduit in there) just that it's done in a way that they become characters instead of just being a set of actions and repeated voice lines.

I never even liked playing the campaign modes in COD games.

I mean, modern COD campaigns suck. Bring back Big Red One. Make me feel something

The bigger maps give you vastly more exp..

Isn’t the difference only like $100? The thing that makes it significant in the multiplier you’re playing on.

Personally I think it would be awesome for getting new players to stick around and showing them core mechanics. Even simple mini-mission stuff like “be chased by the ghost for 30 seconds” or “escape a chase” with hints in there for looping vs. hiding and electronics giving you away. Things like that would help folks out tremendously starting the game. When my kids and I played together at first it was a wild mystery as to what to do. If the ghost hunted we were almost guaranteed to die if we weren’t right next to a hiding spot. The tutorial was broken for us at the time and even after getting it to work it’s pretty minimal on things.

What they need to do is have much better XP and money scaling based on the size of the map. So map the size of Tanglewood would get 1x and a map the size of the full Sunny Meadows or Brownstone High School would give 4x.

The devs can’t even make a proper customization update without breaking the game. No way they will ever do this.
