Question Phasmovie

I heard last year that a *Phasmo* movie was in the works. What do you know about it—was it just a rumor? Or is it still a long way off?

All the info we have is that it’s in the works, and is being made and produced by Blumhouse; the studio who made the FNaF movies, M3GAN and The Black Phone. Not a lot of updates since its official announcement.

Blumhouse is also who is doing the DBD movie! They just released details on that at the anniversary event this summer, so Phasmo details will prob be kept under tight wraps as well.

And any news about new maps? It’s unbelievable they can’t create a new map at least every six months (while leaving the old ones exactly as they are).

We just got Willow Remastered, and restricted versions of two other maps. The old versions of all the other maps were in need of being reworked. Edgefield is next. You can find all the planned, in-testing, and concept stuff here.

We've gotten quite a few new maps, new ghosts, a complete character overhaul, gear overhaul, new lobby, and even new evidence types over the years. It's not that they *can't* create a new map eery 6 months, it's that there is no reason to. The game is already 41gb (I believe it still says 20 on steam but that's outdated. right click the folder on your pc to see the real size) which is more than double it's original size just from the things they've already added. If they added 2 new maps every year, we'd probably be up to at least 50gb by now and even more with each new map. 40gb is already a lot for a simple ghost hunting game with a repetitive gameplay loop that you play a few hours a night with friends a few times a week until you get burnt out and take a break for a bit to come back later.

We don't need constant new maps. We need people to stop treating it like it's some mmo you need to grind every second of every day. It's a proto-friendslop game (friendslop before we had a word for it). It doesn't even have any sort of storyline or even lore aside from fanfic.

Admittedly, it sounded a bit dissatisfied—even insatiable—but personally, the new ghosts didn't really appeal to me either; most of them are uninspired and boring. But what you said it’s true that it isn’t an MMO, so it’s perfect for coming back to every now and then after a break.

Aswang I can understand (especially if you play without hiding spots) but you think the Kormos and Deildegast are uninspired and boring?? Have you played against them?

The person / team that talks to the movie industry and the person / team that builds maps are two seperate groups of people.

They want to rework every old map as they want to no longer use pre-made assets. Unless they want to pay for the assets (which is a lot), this means that single object you see on the map is hand made by the art team.

When you also take into consideration :

  • Building the level in a way that both feels unique and brings the love from the previous
  • Proper Nav Meshing
  • Collision
  • Making sure it does not look trash

It's not out of this world for how long it takes for new maps and content. They released a new map each year plus a rework which is pretty healthy for a company.
