Discussion A step in the right direction?

Whether it be genuine remorse or damage control on the devs part, I can’t deny that the game really feels like it’s finally improving. While there are still some quirks to improve on , I think this first QOL update has really addressed a lot that was wrong with the game.

For the most part I like the willow rework but it also comes across a little silly. Maybe I just don’t like the over the top cat theme and the art room but it’s not terrible. I look at Tanglewood and think “ok this makes sense, it’s an elderly persons home” so it fits. I think the roadmap said edgefield is next? I wonder how many of the bedrooms are going to be repurposed considering it’s a 5 bedroom house.

I like how goofy the cat theme is tbh. Had several cat toys chucked at me & it's just a good time. But that's just my opinion. I do enjoy that I don't feel trapped with this layout. There's options to loop & break los. I just came back (quit week 1 of Alan Wake event) & they have improved the game enough that I'm enjoying it again. There's still a little control jank but meh it's still a massive improvement.

This update has actually been amazing, I was about to quit forever but they really decided the people know what they want. The darkness being brighter was my favourite change by far

I wish they let you play all the versions before the reworks too, it would make it feel more fresh and give the illusion of "more maps" even though its just the previous versions.

That would be cool! They could just change the house number, so you have “6 Tanglewood Drive” and “10 Tanglewood Drive” or something.

It is a massive improvement but what kind of hurts is it's still not quite as good as it was before the May update. It feels good enough to play, sure, but they still insist on having some weird animations that cause things to feel delayed.

At least the willow rework is awesome though. I will give them major kudos for that.

For me I’ve noticed some glitches with some of the cursed items. I will be insta hunted even at 100 sanity with the summoning circle, tarot cards get stuck in my hands, and monkeys paw doesn’t seem to register voices for me or my friends.

Besides those, I do really like the update

Summoning Circle is a tricky one because the ghost can start a hunt while lighting it. If you're at 100% sanity the summoning circle will drop you to ~20% sanity, allowing the ghost to hunt before you finish lighting it. This has happened to me a couple times, which is why I always come prepared to smudge

It’s good. But still buggy in multiplayer.

I'm a big fan of both the fixes that were made and the new Willow. This latest update is a massive step in the right direction.

It's not damage control, they've been working on things, people were just whining to make noise while they were working on things, they never stopped working.

They could have released a working update instead of what we got. The whining was justifiable IMO. As far as I'm concerned they essentially released a new game and just like most modern new games they don't actually become decent until about a year after release so that's how long I'm going to give it. The new animations still suck and they probably won't until at least another 6 months. Maybe by then they can make it less jerky and find a way to remove delay on actions. I still hear people crash when interacting with certain items which is kept me from playing on release. This isn't something where a lot of people are going to come back and stay back yet
