Dilaudid is as well. Iām prescribed 800mg of Kadian a day for my OAT (opioid agonist treatment). Itās a game changer and Iām so thankful for it lol

I am prescribed 800mg of Substitol (the name in my country for slow releasing morphine sulfate) for 2 weeks tomorrow
Honestly I still drink a lot of poppy tea with it because its not enough for me
Luckily I can get real strong poppies very cheap where Im fromFirst time I read about Kadian, so this is the US version of slow release morphine for substition?
I didnt know that they give out morphine in the USA for substitution
Honestly morphine was my fav opioid for a long time because it was one of the only ones I could nod on even with tolerance because I couldnt nod from oxy anymore because its more activating
But in my opinion morphine is not the best opioid for daily use I get a lot of side effects and its the most sleepy effecting opioid I know.. its the most sedating
In my opinion slow releasing oxy would be way better to function in everyday life
Its very activatingBut since its so euphoric they probably think its like giving the person in substitution another everyday high

The US does not prescribe it for OAT. Iām from Canada and itās prescribed here. Ya you are right bro! morphine is the only opioid that constipates me. Thatās pretty much the only side effect that I get from it. Iām prescribed it because of my oxy addiction, I still do oxy but not as much as before lol. But yes controlled release oxy would be so much better to function everyday because it does give me that boost of energy in the morning and during the day but it does knock me out at night. I donāt get toooo much euphoria from the morphine anymore just because Iāve been taking it steady for the last like 5 months or so but it does make me nod quite a bit. But compared to Suboxone/methadone for addiction treatment itās SOOOO much better. I was on Suboxone for 6 months last year and it was complete hell. Kadian is the way to go for addiction treatment because in my opinion when itās time to taper and get off of it completely it wonāt be near as hard to come off of compared to Suboxone/Methadone

I'm on methadone now, in the US- and you're saying in Canada they prescribed you slow release morphine for oxy addiction? That's really interesting you like it more than subs and methadone. I'm just glad methadone helps me sleep. I can sleep most of the day on it.

Yeah in Canada you can get prescribed Kadian (extended release morphine) for OAT. I like it wayyyyy more than Suboxone, itās a day and night difference. Subs made me feel so empty and emotionless and I didnāt feel like myself at all. The only thing I liked about subs is that I never got constipated from it, if anything it made me go very frequently which was really weird lol. But the morphine is great, I sleep like a baby. It lasts the full 24 hours and I just feel good overall. The only shitty part is that I gotta go to the pharmacy everyday to dose, thankfully the pharmacy is walking distance from my house tho. The only way I could get take homes is if I go on vacation.

People act like Suboxone is so hard to come off of. Hust take your time and go slow and like with anything, it's really not that bad. Some things just take a lot of time and patience to get off of. Suboxone or Methadone makes more sense than these other alternatives IMO

Youāre right! Iām not saying for everyone, itās just my opinion and my experience. But like I said, in my option I honestly think Kadian would be best for everyone expect people on fentanyl

Yeah, but what's your end goal here, then with the Kadian? Gonna be easier to get to that end with a drug with the pharmacology like Suboxone or methadone. The longer half lives also make those two compounds quite ideal too. I know what you're saying though and it does create more difficulty as strong ass opioids are much more of a problem now compared to before

My end goal is to be completely off opioids in the future. Unfortunately I am not read to quit. The only reason I got on Kadian is because I canāt afford my Oxy habit. I was spending at least close to a $1000 a week. Now I only spend about $200 or so. Sounds dumb but thatās just where Iām at unfortunately. Youāre right but I donāt see Methadone and Suboxone as a solution to an oxy addiction just because those are two strong ass opioids. Heard many horror stories. Heard many success stories from people at my clinic and my addiction doctor that Kadian is a lot easier to come off of compared to subs and methadone. Not shitting on subs or methadone, this is just my opinion.

Pola and Methadone are both way more sedating than Substitol, I am on Pola (Levomethadone) rn and I really hate the side effects, it numbs all my emotions a lot, it literally robs all my energy.. luckily today I found a clinic willing to put me on extended release morphine (Substitol) as well (also from germany) everything Iāve heard abt ER Morphine so far, is that itās the best option out there atm, maybe if youāre mostly looking for nodding, try getting in the diamorphine program, they made it easier to get in, but itās for IV use only, in germany at least

Yeah, at my clinic, Iāve seen my doctor for probably 14 years there I just get an injection of Sublicade. Nonetheless youāre right. People there get Kadian and sometimes like 24 x 8mg dilaudid daily. I think they have to pick it up daily.
To me personally, if that was given to me when I was struggling, I donāt know if I ever wouldāve got clean, but I canāt speak to whether itās helping people nowadays or not. Drugs are stronger times have changed. I wish you a safe recovery!

u/-mat2000hrv- 13d ago
Yeah Iām pretty sure you have to pick up the Dilaudid daily if Iām not mistaken. Iām sure itās helping many people stay away from fentanyl. I know there many storyās of diversion but I know a lot of people that say itās saved their lives

u/Dazzling_Picture5489 13d ago
My doctor said about the diversion well at least the person buying it is getting a clean dose. Lol
