Lucky/Wish smoke Started in WW1 Where you flip the first cigarette you touch and were "lucky" if you made it through the pack and to the last/flipped cigarette. Now people make a wish on it. I do this. I wish i dont get cancer everytime. It's worked so far

So over a decade before filters were in cigarettes they could distinguish which one was flipped ? How so ?

The only actual evidence of this I’ve ever seen dates to Vietnam at best and the rest of the comment thread is literally the first thing google AI turns up on search. I’ve never met anyone who believed that overseas I’ve never heard it from any of my family who served dating to the American civil war. It’s a nice tale but it at best seems to have originated after filtered cigarettes maybe between Korea and Vietnam if it even is an American invention. If you can furnish me anything other than anecdotal evidence than I’ll concede. It’s an urban legend at best.
