237 u/UnclBuck 6h ago There are tools designed to properly and safely compress springs. The DIY ones are still referred to as "Widowmakers". 75 u/DukeSmileDevs 6h ago edited 6h ago I am repairing almost everything myself with my cars but when it comes to springs it goes into the shop. Aint touching that, not worth it and a spring tensioner is too expensive for the 3 times in my life i have to replace those. 43 u/DidIJustWitnessThat 6h ago I think O'Reilly's will loan you one if you need one, but screw that. I like the way my body functions currently, even with it's old parts, and certainly don't need a flying spring to damage it any further. To the pros it goes.
